DK.
Although there is a special place for druid for me. Played one since Beta, and it has gone through so much Blizzard-induced hell and lived and played in spite of constant nerf-buff-nerf cycle in all its forms, including back when fast flight form meant something (the quest line felt epic).

The original eq1 bard, not listed Part of the reason why WoW has never held my interest like other MMOs is because of the classes.

With only WOW classes to choose from, Druids. Just for the ability to shape shift on the run. All those others pulling mounts out of their asses just don't cut it.

Even though they sucked the life out of mine in Cataclysm, the paladin was still the most entertaining class I played. Hunter was a close second, though.

I've played every class to at least 30, except the mage. Couldn't get a mage past level eight. Ugh. Paladins have otbe my all time favorite. Hunter is a blast, priest can be a kick in the pants...the warrior.../drool. But all time? Paladin. Explains why I have a few 85 paladins.

DK. The only reason I did not quit WoW for good just prior to WOTLK was due to the introduction of DK's. I've always like the "shadow knight" type characters in RPGs (melee knights with health leech abilities). Too bad the idiots working on the game now have made it so terribad that even having one of the coolest classes of all time can't make the game fun anymore

Favorite of all time is easily the EQ1 bard. Unique "song twisting" playstyle, unqiue abilities, typical bard jack-of-all trades versatility: do anything just not especially great, but usually while turning an average group into a great one, etc.
Favorite of WoW is the DK. Love the blackguard/anti-paladin archtype, Shadowknight was my 2nd favorite class in EQ as well.

Back in 1985 I learned that you simply cannot eat an entire box of kraft mac n' cheese along with an entire 5th of jack daniels. The end result is, well, epic, but not in a good way. Kind of like paladins right now. Its like someone puked up pasta and whiskey and said "yeah, those look like great paladin talents, lets go with that!"

Why is it that this explains so much about you Spooky?
Oh, it only scratches the surface, you have no idea

Agree fully. I loved my friar. Pretending I was a caster only to beat a shadowblade into pulp was great fun.

We talking before or after the left-axe nerf?

If you were a scout... Fav. WoW class = Hunter of course. Second fav. Warrior.

After the left axe nerf, of course, but then again, that happened very early in the game. My scout ate shadowblades alive. Shields in melee were OP, especially for a ranged toon that took a ton of your health at a distance before you ever even get there.

You had to pop a SB from range if you wanted to stand a chance, and if you did so, you weren't in a 1 on 1 unless you caught a ST00PID SB walking around unstealthed lol. Dual wielding ate up shield defenses pretty hard. If you got lucky and landed a slam with their purge down, you could double crit shot 'em. But if they opened up on you in melee as a scout, you were fubar. Maybe they made shields useful in melee later in the history of the game but up until WoW came out, if you were going up against a dual wielder with a shield, your shield was half as effective, as was your evade... kinda sh*tty tbh, and one of the reasons why I thought DAOC mechanics were a failure. Admittedly with FZ pre-nerf - yeah, you could nail them if they popped you from stealth, but that was also late in the time period I am speaking about and was quickly nerfed if I recall.

I played an archer up until the archer nerf, which was very early on. I switched to berzerker after that. Then the left axe nerf came and I rolled a cleric. Also it was nigh impossible for scouts to find leveling groups if they weren't shield specced.

I sold a zerk/shadowblade account for $700 (USD)... yes people paid amounts like that for accounts back in the day /shrug. 3 weeks later there was a left-axe nerf. Neither of us knew that was going to happen when he bought the account. Oh well his problem not mine. After that shadowblades were pretty much only Thidranki heroes sitting on their bridges with their 2Hs :P

Even though I have, at various times when I still played WoW, preferred disc priest, mm hunter, and arms/fury warrior, and maybe resto druid or even dk, I have to say elemental shaman was the one that lasted the longest as favorite.

They need to change shamans so that their totems are mobile. Why can't they just be like a "totem belt" or something?

Because /Ghostcrawler. Immobile totems are "a defining feature of the class".
