Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.

Hi everyone! I am going to start playing again after around 10 years or so. Do you have any suggestions for mage templates and for bow templates?
Can you spec a skill after first creation or can you do it only during creation?
Are there any good character creators out there?
Do you have any other suggestions?

You can spec and unspec skills now after the fact, and leveling is way easier at the start, but I don't use buff bots so don't ask me about templates.
I first got this game back in '99 after beta, so I mostly level random gimps now on DT for the Dark Riders (from lord of the rings) element that being on a PK server adds to the game, since all the servers but HG and FF (and maybe LC or TD) are empty anyway. Araanidim if you end up on DT.

Checking in from Empty Wintersebb. If you fancy self buffing, get three schools to start and your weapon of choice, and go to town. Most of the template stuff is the same as it was before, except that Sho is pretty silly to do now. The reason is that shadows can also have UA as a racial, and have other benefits.

The new Aluvian race gets a free Life aug (no foci needed, just tapers and scarabs). As mentioned, you can train, spec, unspec, and untrain skills after creation, so you can pretty much start as an archer or melee at first, if you want to, and switch to mage when skills get high enough to cast 6's, 7's and 8's.
