Running Decal on Windows 7
|
Hey guys, I have windows 7. Ac is installed. The latest decal is installed. It installed perfectly fine, but I can't get it to update. It says "program is already running, please close out and try again". All I get are the red x's on the decal update page.
When I downloaded it, I put it into c/program files/AC.
Without complicating things, do you guys have any quick tips i can try?
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried right clicking decal and choosing run as an administrator. Doing that often solves updating problems. Also you might right click and choose properties. Under the compatibility tab, click run as an administrator.

If you expect any other help with trying to troubleshoot your decal problems, please post a decal export.

I want to hijack this thread for a minute to tell everyone that it's really not necessary to install Decal outside of Program Files on Windows 7. The only thing it accomplishes is removing UAC elevation prompts and Decal works just fine in the Program Files directory.
Now, the Program Files dir is a 'protected' directory so modifying files inside it (e.g. when Decal updates) requires UAC elevation or administrative privileges. And telling Decal to run as administrator can lead to problems checking and unchecking plugins in the plugin list.
Unfortunately the Decal "myth" for Windows 7 woes involves installing everything outside of Program Files, and I wanted to clear this up. Installing AC out of Program Files is necessary if you want to run Decal without administrative privileges -- as injecting Decal into a process running from Program Files does require administrative privileges.
</hijack>
Post an export.
