Dune if you have not read it yet.

Enders shadow is the best book of the three, with dune a close second

I haven't read Enders' Shadow or Foundation. I have read Dune, but that was way back in junior high (middle school) some 27+ years ago, so I could stand to read it again. I'll probably understand it more as well.

My vote is for Ender's Shadow. I've never read Dune, I'll have to put that on my list. But out of Ender's Shadow and Foundation, definitely Ender's Shadow.

Ender's Shadow is a great book but I preferred Ender's Game. Not only is Ender a better character (in my opinion) but the twist at the end elevates the entire experience. Dune is classic in a way little else is. I could entertain the argument that Ender's Game is better than Dune, but Shadow is not. Personally, I will always rate Dune above Ender's Game just because the way he writes children is preposterous. I spent the entire time upset with him trying to pass these characters off as ten years younger than he was writing them. Not to mention the bit with Ender's brother and sister becoming political powerhouses over the internet is a goddamn farce it is so ludicrous. Anyone who has tried to discuss politics on the internet knows those section are best read as comedy.

or... science _Fiction_ ? :>
I agree that Ender's game is the better book of the two! But when I read Enders Shadow I really liked that you kinda got to head what Orson Scott Card's thoughts were when he wrote the first book.

I decided to read Ender's Shadow which I just finished. Was an interesting POV of Bean and his thoughts and stories but Ender's Game was much better. I felt like Ender's Shadow had too much inner dialogue of Bean in it and him going around in circles, which I understand what he does because he is far advanced in his thinking. There were a few times where I felt it wasnt needed and didnt add. Dune is next! 17$ on amazon though for kindle

or you can hit a bookstore and buy the real thing for 7 or 8 bucks new or half that used. speaking of dune i strongly suggest reading the prequel novels. read dune and perhaps children and messiah first. then read the two prequel trilogies.

yeah thats why i told him to go back and do the prequels before going past messiah. it gets too disjointed and weird and it just doesn't have the same feel to it the first 3 books had. at least if you read the prequels before going past that point whats going on makes a little bit more sense. doesn't make the story itself any better unfortunately but at least its easier to understand.

I read Dune and really enjoyed it. Half way through foundation now and its an interesting style. I hate when i begin to like a character and you jump into the future. I plan to read the 2 sequels to Dune next and maybe the prequels if im not Duned out.
