Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

I'm probably doing it wrong, but google and amazon.com don't seem to advertise who isreading these books to me. I'm reading the Way of Kings and I thought I heard Kim Harrison announced as co-narrator, but can't find that online, nor a bibliography for her. I'm pretty sure this isn't the author Kim! Anyway, isn't it an important detail when purchasing an audio product to know who is performing for you? To me, it would be like buying "the Best of Johnny Cash" and then turning it on to hear Garth Brooks doing cover songs. How hard is it to say, "as read by..." ??

Use Audible.com as your reference, it lists them and even lets you check out their other work. Also, I happen to know The Way of Kings is narrated by Kate Reading, who does Wheel of Time.

Oh yeah, she did the Codex Alera books too I believe. I found it hard to adapt to a woman's narration, but she definitely brought me around by the end (except when Bernard was talking "gruffly" to Amara. Something just did not feel right at all about those scenes!!)

I think I've mentioned in another post that I just can't get into a book read by a woman. For some reason a man trying to talk like a woman is more acceptable than a woman trying to talk like a man imo. I'm not sure what that says about me though .

I agree on all counts! I once admitted this to my girlfriend, who repeated it to her friends the first time I met them. Talk about backtracking in a hurry! "No, I'm not a chauvinist, I promise!"
