Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Hey All, I came across defective on ACCwiki and it doesent seem to show up ig even though being on the decal list&updated. If this plugin no longer works is there another plugin that can let someone customize the UI and hotkeys, Replace the old health/stam/mana bars up top with a new one and clean up the chat window? If my AC could look like this screen shot I would be a happy camper! http://limitengineering.net/decal/ac_hex_defective.png

I think you missed the bit where Defective requires the virindi bundle.
In addition you did not provide an export.

Look in the Defective options for removing the old spellbar.
The plugin to remove the rest of the UI is not available at this moment though.

ah ok right on thank you. it would be amazing if we could get a plugin that allows us to replace the old UI with a crisp new one. The screenshot shows all of the old stuff in the bottom area gone, Can that not be done at this point in time?

There's nothing simple about it. It doesn't work as well as it needs to yet to be palatable by users, though developers could probably handle it in the current state. Unfortunately the AC UI is rather byzantine and messing with it leads to a lot of strange bugs that are hard to explain. In addition, it's nigh impossible to remove the top bars at all -- the best you can do with that is to draw something else on top of them. As an aside, it's also somewhat challenging to play when there are missing bits of the UI that are vital - like the selected item area in the bottom right, which has no real replacement. There is no replacement examination UI, there is no way to add character skills, or stats, or change equipment.

Yeah i completely understand, It's a shame that they made the orig UI that rigid. I believe AC would be much more appealing to those graphic loving mmo players out there if there was a way to do what we are talking about. We've all heard many times from turbine that the actual in game graphics are as good as it's ever going to get without a full overhaul of the game but it would be nice if they gave addon dev's a break with a flexible UI. The 2011 Dev letter did give me a couple hints when they mentioned that they wanted to make the game more playable. "We also want some interface improvements to make their appearance in May such as making an alternate examination window that doesn’t cover your backpack when you open it. There’s even a chance that the May update could also include the next playable race." I can only hope that what they where talking about is similar to what we've said here. My hat is off to all of the plugin dev's that have worked hard to update what turbine has not. If there are any future plugins in the works for this issue please post so people are aware and can donate cash for the cause!

Considering I doubt any of the Original Dev's ever expected AC to last 11+ years after release or the ways the code would change, their lack of foresight is excusable, after all even tho it's not perfect it DID provide a base for what the game that we still play....
