A 20 year deal worth 15 million a year (the article says a total of 300 million over 20 years, take that divided by 20 you get 15 million a year). I think I hear the death bell of the Big 12 ringing now, it is only a matter of time. Congrats Texas, you successfully killed yet another conference.

Yeah, and by doing so they should just about be the end of the Big 12, at least as far as football is concerned. I would love to see the Big 12 refuse to accept the other Texas sports if they do decide to go independant in football. Send the message, it's all or nothing.

I think Texas can pull it off. I mean that state is big enough to be a small country. They are supposedly going to show high school football games on that channel as well, which would definitely get the channel into many homes. Honestly if Texas can negotiate to have all their non conference games put on that channel, then it would definitely take off very well. If Texas goes independent, then the channel will probably reach levels none of us thought possible.

Well only Notre Dame is guarenteed a spot if they finish high enough. Texas could probably snag the same deal though, they have won a BCS championship and all.

Its just a shame, I wish the big 12 could have dumped Texas, picked up TCU, Houston and some other scrub and been a decent conference in football again and still have a title game.

I would much rather have Bevo Cam going late nights after the bars.. Can you imagine coming home drunk from the bars and watching Bevo all night long.. Maybe its more of a stoner thing haha, but it was a joke tossed around on the Sports Animal the day Texas released this information.
As far as the Big 12 splitting.. It's going to happen at some point and when it does it's gonna be a mess to get everyone situated into other Conferences.

The simple solution would be for the Big east to kick out all the schools that dont have football programs, then they could add up the big 12 leftovers which would probably be Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and Iowa State. Texas A&M should follow through with going to the SEC. Texas, Tech, OK, and OK State can go to the Pac 10. Baylor can just give up athletics, best thing that will ever happen to the school.

With all the room the big 12 is giving OU and Texas to run their own networks I don't see them going anywhere. They get the beifits of being in a bcs conference along with the ability to do whatever they want with their own deals.... win win pretty much for now.
