Now I might just offer to have his love child if he can pull this one off. Of course he won't. Its just another ploy to get in the headlines because he likes the attention. But man, no more BCS. I'm all down for that!

Cuban, the outspoken owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, told ESPNDallas.com on Wednesday that he is "actively interested but in the exploratory stage" of creating and funding a playoff system to crown a champion for major college football.
"The more I think about it, the more sense it makes as opposed to buying a baseball team," said Cuban, who tried to buy the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers within the last few years. "You can do something the whole country wants done."

I will get a Mark Cuban tatoo outlined with a heart on my rear end if he can pull this off. I would not put it past him to be able to do it either, they guy is crazy, but just sane enough to get something done.

i think he would have been great in MLB, but the puss commish i dont think would have liked him. i say let him tackle the BCS any type of playoff is better then the travesty that we have now.

One thing that I noticed in this article is that they continually bring up the popularity of the game, and they have a valid point. Why change when people will watch the current system the way it is. This is why I do not care much for College Football, the lack of an actually National Champion is rediculous. It is either going to take the fans standing up and not supporting College Football, or the government passing laws which basically force a playoff on to college football. I would like to see some school take Mark Cubans money and make a new branch of the NCAA, on that has a playoff system. If the money is there then it could definitely be beneficial.

My favorite part of their argument against a playoff system is what it will do to the student athletes. I don't hear thousands of student athletes at the 1-AA (I refuse to use FCS/FBS BS) level crying foul.

What is it going to do to the Student Athlete's who are NOT IN SCHOOL BECAUSE IT IS WINTER BREAK! That is the biggest load of crap to say it is about the student Athlete's. They could host the first round of games this weekend, skip a weekend for Christmas, then hold them the next three weeks and be done before January classes begin.

I honestly feel at this point what it is going to take is the teams in Div 1 that want to playoff are going to have break off from the teams that want to keep the bowl system. This IS a possibility if Mark Cuban is going to be pumping that much money into the new group. This isn't like a step down the division ladder either, they would still be in the top tier division one, they just wouldn't play bowl games. Lets say 40 schools agree to this, if he is planning to use that money every 5 years, it would amount to 2.5 million dollars per school per year. That is a pretty good pay day just from the Cuban bank, not to mention any money that would be generated by TV contracts for the playoff system. It would be very realistic that each team joining this new sub group could easily generate 10-20 million a year from their football program.
