If the team had been in a group with him and the xp split amongst all members then that is teamwork. The team being separate and the individual gaining xp based on the work of a separate team is powerleveling.

What do you do to convince others to help YOU get that realm/world first by doing the "mob tagging" thing? There's no freaking way I'd be in some group, going behind this guy killing his mobs so he can race his way to first? I mean, seriously, after a couple weeks of discussion on some game forums, who would care or remember that Smasher, Athene, or whoever got there first?

The people involved will care and will remember. A friend of mine still remembers when he was part of one of the teams that raced for level 99 in the original Diablo 2. That was 10 years ago.
Have you never decided to do something because YOU wanted to do it, even if nobody else cares?
