Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Looking for plugin authors and beta testers for a new Decal release
|
Hi all,
The recent AC update has added enough new features and broken enough minor details that it's time for a new release of Decal.
In the interest of releasing well tested software without bugs, we will need players and plugin authors to test the release before it is official, and with a somewhat diminished player base, I have decided that the best scenario is just to ask anyone willing to test beta software to participate. The new release is nearly ready and if you want to test, just send me a private message and I will PM a link to you when we have a release candidate (hopefully within a day or two). Please include a Decal export in your PM so I can have an accurate measurement of what operating systems and plugins are currently in use.
Thanks,
Haz

I got it, I thought I would see a notification that I received PMs, heh. That is not the case, I got a bunch of PMs from people that I didn't even notice until just now.
So if you did PM me, don't worry, I got it. Paradox is working on getting the server updated so we can upload a new release to it, when that happens there'll be a build up.

Oh, and as a heads up, Decal will require MSXML6 from now on, so if you don't have it installed, you will need it in the future.

Well, my old account here on the VNBoards had expired at some point (I logged in before it required email addresses, and surprise surprise, IGN's system of switching an old account to a new one didn't work for me), I sent an email to IGN, no response back... Anyhow, I'd like to be a beta tester as well, but can't send PM's until my post count reaches 20 (which wouldn't be a problem if I could log into my old account) I have a Windows XP (with SP2) box, and also a Windows 7 box that I can test it on.

This seems like a good time to ultimately resolve the "where does decal officially live?" problem. Some people get it from decaldev.com (though that side doesn't work as I typed it there), some from decal.dreagis.com. Some from other places. Would it be possible to either fix decaldev.com or replace it with sourceforge/some other web solution? It seems like needless complexity to have it living at multiple places on the web, especially considering the problems many people have with getting it installed and working. If neither of those two sites are idea, where should I be pointing people to get Decal?

Decaldev.com and decal.dreagis.com are the same machine, joe. We're working on getting a more permanent site up, but we used to have a dedicated server machine and it died, so we're back to shared hosting and the custom solutions we had before are no longer usable software.
And the new Decal does have a number of WF improvements, including vendor fixes.

I get an error with atl80.dll anytime I try to do an export, but other than that everything seems to be working fine. The export still shows up though.

I know that I always refer people to get decal from the site that is in my sticky'd post. It doesn't include directX, but really they should be installing the latest and greatest anyhow.

Is it an actual error, or does it just say not installed? If you can get the error again, you should be able to actually just press Ctrl-C and have it copy the entire error text to the clipboard, where you can paste it in here.
An export on that machine would also be helpful

I dl'd it earlier, haven't had a chance to get it installed yet.

Depends on what in particular you mean.
This version has an option to disable the Decal views from rendering, this creates a noticeable increase in framerate if you are like me and only use Virindi View plugins.
General CPU use for everything that isn't graphics will never go down, however. Decal does a lot of things in the background, including intercepting every packet and sending it to a bunch of plugins and loading over 100 hooks into the client.

Okay, I thought that might be the case. What OS are you on? The problem is that the method we use for detecting runtime dlls now randomly springs up warnings from Microsoft, as they want everyone to use their stupid SxS dll garbage and it's a huge pain in the arse.

Won't help with that, as it's not really an error in anything but the export looking for some shared libraries.

Yea it didn't solve the error. I didn't think it was that big of a deal since it still displayed the export. Using Vista 32

Ok, couple things I noticed. C# .net 2.0, Visual Studio 2010, Windows 7 x64 I realized that plugins developed on 2.9.6.1 couldn't be added to my other box running 2.9.6.0, so, I'm upgrading that box (Win 7 x64 as well). Closed down AC/Decal/ACDC Installed msxml6_x64.msi found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1 Installed the decal beta. I was now able to add my plugin no problem, ok, time to get testing! First, I fire up my trade-bot running only mule it trade it! only to realize that the GUI is all messed up. Unuseable. The plugin seems to be running normally though. I'm thinking, ok, maybe its just this. I loaded up vtank and my own plugins, all have messed up GUI's. I have VViews disabled, so I don't think its that. Also, my dev box does NOT have this issue. Same plugins, same decal, and I installed the same xml update as well. My dev box has so many other libs and dev packages installed though so thats probably it. I think everyone currently working on Decal has an Nvidia or Intel card. I have not seen any graphics corruption issues but it could be happening on ATI cards.

Tested VViews on that box. VTank looks good on VViews. Its just the decal view thats broken. My dev box also runs an ATI 5870 card, although an older version, the 1GB version. I'll try updating the catalyst drivers on the AC rig.

Updated the display drivers, no luck. Updated DirectX, no luck. It does appear to be gfx corruption though, 99% sure.

Just curious, have you tried rebooting?

I also see you're using 3 1920x1200 displays (nice! I only have 2), maybe you could try disabling one or two as well.

I've tried rebooting. After I updated the ATI catalyist drivers (for eyefinity), it destroys the grouping, so you're stuck one display mirrored across all 3 until you reset it up (which is easy), and that didn't work either. I did not try physically disconnecting any of the displays. Normally I VNC to that machine. I double checked at that box and its the same as it appears over VNC, goofy gfx for the plugin windows.

Hazridi posted: Depends on what in particular you mean.
Would rewriting the Decal views to use the more efficient managed DirectX textures that Virindi Views uses break every plugin? I'm not sure how the UI is implemented (ie: if there's some higher-level UI toolkit that Decal plugin creators use), or if it's low level enough to be broken by a rewrite. I would love to use nothing but Virindi Views, as its far faster and more efficient, but I have many plugins that don't use VV (GoArrow, Squire, Quest Timer, Make It, etc).

I use obj.Values(LongValueKey.EquippedSlots) > 0 for equipped items, and if (e.Changed.Values(LongValueKey.Slot) == -1) for wielded items (could be wielded by anyone). Both lines are working as intended in the beta version of decal.

Container and slots both have broken logic in the old Decal. The changes for a call to Values(slots key, default) are as follows:
Actual value ||| Old returned value ||| New returned value
------------ ||| ------------------ ||| ------------------
-1 (no slot) ||| -1 ||| default or -1 if no default
0 (first slot) ||| default or 0 ||| 0
other ||| other ||| other
As you can see, internally -1 is used for 'no slot', such as when an item is being wielded. It is natural that default should be returned when an item has no slot, not when it occupies the first slot.
Container has also been changed, but this change shouldn't be as noticeable. In old Decal, container would be an incorrect value anytime the (unordered) packets for set container and set equipped got swapped. This was a somewhat rare case but usually caused objects in your inventory to appear to have container 0. This has been fixed.

Something else I should point out: for those of you who got rid of Decal views with my patched inject.dll, if you are running 2961 you should not replace the inject.dll. Instead, there is a checkbox under options in Decal to disable Decal views.

Not sure if it is a Decal issue, WIndows issue or Plugin issue but is there anyway to incorporate a method of moving and adjusting the order of plugins without having to go to the registry or use the Decal Plugin order tool that was developed a while ago (which also doesnt have a 64bit version boo :-) )
PS Is it also possible to incporpate the Decal Skins I made into the install and apply them from a dropdown if possible?

I'll be honest, I want nothing to do with any further View-related changes. I personally consider Virindi Views a valid replacement for Decal Views and the code for the Decal View system is a level of hideous that is hard to describe. Unfortunately, there is no good way to map Decal Views over to Virindi Views because VViews are entirely a managed component and Decal Views are legacy COM. All my future plugins will be VVS only, and I think this is the best way to go. I did add an option to suppress all native Decal View rendering so there's no longer any need for Virindi's inject dll replacement. I'm sure this will disappoint some of you but I suggest asking your favorite plugin authors to switch to Virindi Views. Edit: It's actually faster to recode most plugins in .NET as compared to update older plugins that use COM. Plugins that are already Adapter plugins should be pretty simple to move over to Virindi Views, V has some compat code in her public repository.

Thats all fine and dandy, but there is little info on how to implement VViews. For example, from the wiki: http://www.virindi.net:8080/wiki/index.php/Virindi_Views I found the repository here: http://www.virindi.net/repos/virindi_public/trunk/ViewServiceConnector/ After downloading the dir, file by file (which takes a while, why not .zip?), I checked out the example. Using Visual Studio 2010, I converted the exiting example. I added these references to my project: System.Drawing System.XML VirindiViewService In project properties, I added the compilation symbol: VVS_REFERENCED I added the following files to my project: ViewSystemSelector.cs Wrapper.cs Wrapper_Decal.cs Wrapper_MyHuds.cs I added the MainView.cs found in the example folder. Then, I built the ViewWrapperCodeGenerator solution and used that to convert my existing XML to the C# source needed to insert into MainView.cs (Don't forget to modify the namespace in MainView.cs to yours. In my PluginCore.cs, above Start() I added: internal static Decal.Adapter.Wrappers.PluginHost MyHost; In Startup() I added: MyHost = Host; MainView.ViewInit(); In Shutdown() I added: MainView.ViewDestroy(); MyHost = null; I build it, and still get the following warning: Warning 1 #warning: 'DECAL_INTEROP not defined, MetaViewWrappers.DecalControls.Control.LayoutPosition will not be available.' Wrapper_Decal.cs 289 10 My plugin does show up in VViews though, which is nice. But it also shows up in Decal tab as well. When VTank is in VViews, it does not show up in the Decal bar? Also, I then realize that I need to remap all my GUI varables in my plugin to my src for my plugin to update the VView GUI as well. That's where I'm at now, hope this helps someone else get started.

Ugh!! It is a SVN repository! All you need to do is download an SVN client (such as tortoise svn) and tell it to check out the URL, and it will give you a nice copy of the directory structure and everything on your system.
As for converting from an adapter decal view plugin...
If your code is adapter attribute-based, you need to change all your attributes to the vvs wrapper attributes. For instance, change [ControlReference] to [MVControlReference]. At your plugin's startup, call MVWireupHelper.WireupStart(this, Host); and at shutdown call MVWireupHelper.WireupEnd(this);.

Ok, without trying that yet... I'm thinking doing that will disable/break the decal view, even if VViews is disabled? I'll try it and find out. From how I understand VViews works, we can develop our programs to support VViews and Decal views simulatenously.? I'm not sure why you would even do this, but it stems into my next questions I guess. From seeing VTank in operation, we can develop our plugin to use VView if VView is enabled, or fall back to Decal view if VView is not enabled. If we make our plugins VView compatable, the clients will need to have VViews installed (even if disabled in decal).

If you use only my metaviewwrapper classes, your plugin will run in VVS when it is running and in Decal when it is not. VVS doesn't even have to be installed on the system.

Ok, here is a problem from a user.
When I install the new version, it installs fine. But after I update the xml files I can't select/deselect any of the plugins (check boxes).
That's where i'm at with it. And yes, I went back to the stable version for the export. Let me know if I need to reinstall the beta and give you another export.

Decal (DenAgent.exe) version: 2.9.6.0 This would show version: 2.9.6.1 if you have the new version installed. Something went wrong with the install or you grabbed the wrong installer maybe?

Ok, lets simplify this. To keep things easy, lets make VViews a requirement. So, we need to add a reference to the VirndiViewService. ..... and I'm stuck here .... haha.

Ok, I'll try to mock up instructions for others who want to convert their plugins to only support VView (not decal view). Step 1. Add VirindiViewService as a reference. Step 2. Copy the MainView.cs file from here into your project: http://www.virindi.net/repos/virindi_public/trunk/ViewServiceConnector/ExamplePlugin/ExamplePlugin/ Step 3. Compile ViewWrapperCodeGenerator and use it to parse your existing plugins .XML file. Step 4. Paste the code generated in step 3 into MainView.cs Now, you'll note that MainView.cs is referencing: MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers, for example: static MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.IView View; Here is where I'm stuck. If we're converting our plugin to VView and are not concerned with native Decal view support, shouldn't the references we need be in the VirindiViewService? I know you provide these in source file form, but from what I understand, I'm thinking the goal of that was so that plugins could support both VView and Decal view.

Ah, if you just want to create a plain VVS plugin without my wrappers, just create an instance of the class VirindiViewService.HudView. Here is some example code: VirindiViewService.HudView View; VirindiViewService.Controls.HudFixedLayout layoutMain; VirindiViewService.Controls.HudCheckBox mycheckbox; void CreateView() { View = new VirindiViewService.HudView("Hello, world!", 78, 80, new VirindiViewService.ACImage(Color.Violet)); View.LoadUserSettings(); layoutMain = new VirindiViewService.Controls.HudFixedLayout(); View.Controls.HeadControl = layoutMain; mycheckbox = new VirindiViewService.Controls.HudCheckBox(); layoutMain.AddControl(mycheckbox, new System.Drawing.Rectangle(0, 0, 40, 16)); mycheckbox.Text = "Woot!"; mycheckbox.Change += new EventHandler(mycheckbox_Change); } void DestroyView() { View.Dispose(); } void mycheckbox_Change(object sender, EventArgs e) { Host.Actions.AddChatText("Checkbox value: " + mycheckbox.Checked.ToString(), 0); }

I noticed that Decal won't take into account plugins that are disabled/enabled after the initial client was logged in. Essentially: Log in with one client with x plugins enabled/disabled. Stay logged in and change which plugins are enabled/disabled. Log in second client. The same plugins that are loaded with the first client will be loaded on the second client.

I have the same issue. They don't seem to be initializing. The Decal view comes up but they are blank (no settings filled in) nor do they generate any error, debug or plain ol' log files. Also, I have found that if you uninstall the beta, and reinstall the previous version, almost all plugins will come up as <No DLL> and MSVCR70/MSVCP70 DLLs were removed (not sure what other DLLs got removed in the process). This could be isolated to my machine and unfortunately I didn't save the Decal Export before I did the system restore. Also using Win7 64bit.

Just as another note: I still sporadically crash when adding spells to my spell bar on 2.9.6.1. But now it's only 2/3rds of the time instead of 100%. When it crashes, it generally also includes debug information which is (surprise!) actually useful. Is DecalFilters.dll crashing? Does it occur with no plugins enabled?
I don't have a void mage and I use Defective for all my spells now so I am not seeing the issue personally, which is the easiest way to get things fixed. I guess I can train void on a throwaway char and see what happens.

This happens with all spells for me, not just void. Two examples are blood loather 7 (pacification) and frost arc 7. Regarding the plugins not properly enabling/disabling across client sessions: this is resolved by enabling XP compatibility mode. Edit: Same with the spellbar crashing.

Hey V, I'm trying to update my plugins to use VVS, but using your wrappers. I see how to do it "the other way" using your example plugin, but this approach should work too, no? At this point, my plugin is still appearing in the Decal bar as it otherwise would. Here's what I have in MainView.cs [MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVView("RareExchanger.ViewXML.mainView.xml")] [MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireUpControlEvents] public partial class PluginCore { [MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVControlReference("txtMaxMMDs")] private MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.ITextBox txtMaxMMDs; ... more controls ... [MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVControlEvent("txtMaxMMDs", "End")] private void txtMaxMMDs_End(object sender, MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVTextBoxEndEventArgs args) { blah } ... In PluginCore Startup/Shutdown I have the following respectively: MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireupHelper.WireupStart(this, Host); and MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireupHelper.WireupEnd(this); What am I missing?

Time is limited and it still works, so no. If there's a major bug that I'm not aware of, I might take a look and fix it, however.

There is a bug where it loses track of which tink its on and it continues to tinker even when given a tink number to stop at. Ex. A person hands it 10 bags of salvage with the item and it doesn't stop at the tink# the person tells it to stop at. Also, there is no gearcraft ability. I spent the last couple months looking at the source code seeing if I could add in gearcrafting, but that wasn't possible with the old decal(at least by me). The new decal makes that possible now, but I would rather not try because my C# knowledge is very limited.

I've found an issue, but I'm not quite sure how I triggered it. I was unable to enable/disable some plugins, and it seemed specifically some that I developed. I went so far as to remove them from the registry and that caused my .NET plugins to stop loading, but my VB6 plugin still loaded. I fired up procmon tonight and found that it was accessing the following store: 9:04:51.1668298 PM ACClient.exe 5620 RegQueryValue HKCU\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Decal\Plugins\{359E547B-5302-4134-80F2-3BE5C31EC828}\Enabled SUCCESS Type: REG_DWORD, Length: 4, Data: 1 That is the key for my VB6 plugin, and I noted that it had a value of 1, even though in the normal location it was set to 0. Per this article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa965884%28v=vs.85%29.aspx) it indicates this is a compatibility function, and it seems the VirtualStore key will take precedence over the normal location. Looking at that location in RegEdit, it only seemed to store some order and enabled values. Looking further at it I see other plugins also were stuck with enabled values of 0 and I tried reenabling them and they still did not load so I guess it is not directly related to my plugins. Perhaps it was how decal was started? I deleted the VirtualStore Decal tree and everything started behaving again.

Are vendors broken in this beta? I'm getting acclient crashes with the following code (specfiically, the GetEnumerator() line.) private void WorldFilter_ApproachVendor(object sender, ApproachVendorEventArgs e) { try { Vendor vend = e.Vendor; IEnumerator<WorldObject> enumer = vend.GetEnumerator(); enumer.Reset(); while (enumer.MoveNext()) { this.WriteToChat(enumer.Current.Name + " " + enumer.Current.Id); } } catch (Exception ex) { CErrorLogging.LogError(errorLogFile, ex); } } I've tried working around this by trying to use WorldFilter.GetAll(), but the vendor's object do not show up there after opening the vendor buy/sell window. I've been using the following code: foreach (WorldObject obj in Util.Core.WorldFilter.OpenVendor) { if (obj.Name.Contains(ItemName)) { Item = obj; break; } } and if (Items.Money_Pyreals.Count >= Item.Values(LongValueKey.Value) * Util.Core.WorldFilter.OpenVendor.SellRate) And haven't had any crashes yet or ran into any issues. Another question I have for you. I noticed you converted your plugins to use V's wrappers. Can you write up a little how-to for others?

Thanks mav, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. As far as the wrappers go: Add in her files from the SVN (the Wrapper... and ViewSystemSelector.cs files) From the usual decal wrappers, convert all of your statements to: MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVView MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireUpControlEvents MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVControlReference MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVControlEvent and update your controls as appropriate (e.g., CheckboxWrapper to MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.ICheckBox.) Edit: In Startup() add: MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireupHelper.WireupStart(this, Host); In Shutdown() add: MyClasses.MetaViewWrappers.MVWireupHelper.WireupEnd(this); What I was missing was "VVS_REFERENCED" under conditional compilation symbols.

Mav: I just tried your code, it doesn't work. Using the foreach loop doesn't give a crash, but Core.WorldFilter.OpenVendor.Count = 0, and Core.WorldFilter.OpenVendor.MerchantId = 0. Thus, there's nothing to iterate over, even though the vendor window is open and has items. Again, trying to use GetEnumerator() leads to the same client crash.

There may have been a vendor protocol change. If that is the case, don't expect it to work until we can figure it out.

Think there was a change.
Im using 2.9.6.0 atm, and the last few times I have went to the Master Mage, I have been spammed when the vendor window opens by about 15 lines of jibberish.

Hmm. Yeah. I just tried to use Echo Filter to snoop around, and every time I open a vendor (F7B0 62), the following occurs: ============================================================================ 12/15/2010 4:49:58 AM Error: Index and count must refer to a location within the buffer. Para, i put that code in WorldFilter_ApproachVendor. Every time you buy/sell, etc.. this action gets called after its completed and the vendor/items all change even though its the same vendor.

Para, seems like it works on some vendors and not others. The treated healing kit guy in ayan works. Master Celdiseth does not.

Not sure if this is anything or not, but currently when you install version 2.9.6.0 you get a message about additional updates (not the xml updates).
With the new version, when you install it, the only thing it updates are the xml files.
I'm thinking with the beta version, whatever is being updated in version .0 has just been added to .1. Just wanted to bring this up in case it was something overlooked.
Oh yeah, the problem with not being able to select/deselect plugins is not solved by enabling compatibility mode. Messed around with it tonite for a little bit while VI took a look at the exchanger programs for me.

2961 includes the decalnet fix already. It doesn't need decalnet to be updated.

If you're on 7, I've found that running DenAgent.exe in XP SP3 compatiblity mode resolves this.

Using decals alternate injection fixed the issue on my ATI 5870 2MB card. I tried using the "No Movie" and "No Logo" options in the new decal and they didn't seem to work. VI's classic logoblocker works though.

If you are having the can't enable/disable plugins bug the most likely scenario is that you at one point ran Decal without administrator privileges and it created a virtualized registry entry for Decal, which is bad. There's a flag I can add to the manifest that should stop this problem in the future, but for now your best bet is just to delete the corresponding Virtual Store entry for Decal.

Looked in the virtual store folder. No decal entry. Blah.
Would it help if after I uninstall decal, if I went in and deleted all registry entries related to decal?

Nope, because it will most likely still be in the VirtualStore key in the registry.

It will probably make things worse, unless you ran it as admin.
Speaking of, try running AC as admin.

This non-selectable thing is happening before AC is ever opened.
And everything is run as an admin.
