Thanks to beta players etc.
Never understood people that buy these.
I ripped on a guy at the SC2 midnight launch for buying one. Mainly because I was pissed at how long the line was taking(thanks to the cashiers asking if everyone wants a Cata pre-sale, strategy guide etc).

I think its good for some games so you dont have to scour the internet for one thing and you dont have to alt tab from a game to find it. For MMOs though I think its pointless. Its all on the internet plus its outdated so quickly.

after the horrible brady guide for ffxi started numerous rumors that were false about how certain things worked in the game causing all sorts of issues...no way would i support them. a 10 year old could put together a more accurate game guide.
2 years later there were still people quoting completely wrong facts from that guide and making things difficult.

And netbooks. 
If I ever do buy these guides, its usually for the art and just something to browse for fun. I still read the classic and BC guides now and then. Sometimes I like drawing some of the artwork in there, too.
If you're looking for a strategy guide only, skip the physical book and L2ignwowheadthotbotwiki. If you're looking for a fun, artistic, senseless read, and you have the cash to spare, then pick it up. I know I will eventually.

After one patch, the guide begins to become obsolete. This includes hotfixes and micro-nerfs like we've already experienced . . . twice since the patch if I recall . . . and the expansion isn't even released yet.
You do the math.
Also, as others stated, the game basically provides all the information you need as far as quests. And quest information fills the majority of the guide.
If you're in doubt still, sites like WowHead provide even more detailed, and updated through comments, information for free.
