First Aid still worth learning?

I recently leveled a Shaman to 80. I learned my first aid up to max, but every time I was doing it I just felt that I was wasting cloth. Not that it is all that valuble anyway, but I have yet to actually USE a bandage. Now as a healing class this may have something to do with it.
Now I am leveling a pally, as a tank, but again with the ability to heal. Am I going to miss First Aid if I don't level it? I am thinking about just throwing all the cloth up on the AH and not bothering with it.

The bandages in Cat I think work differently, I forget how, or if they even stuck with the idea but I remember them not sucking like the Wrath ones did. On the other hand, most classes have ways to heal themselves now so it seems kinda unneccesary.

I'll admit, I haven't used a bandage since the last patch. But, I still leveled up first-aid. Call it a safety call, yet I wouldn't deny myself an additional tool that could save my life . . . especially in PvP.
Just something to consider.

For the last year or so it's become an afterthought that gets lvl'd once I hit 80. I typically keep a stack of bandaids on all my char's, even the healers. Ya never know.

I still use FA when I'm leveling new alts. All of my characters have FA, even the healers, and yes there were times running PuGS in LK where I needed to either bandage myself or another player when I was on a non-healing class.

The devs have said that they want to see bandages become viable in Cataclysm. Whether or not they'll pull it off is another thing altogether.

If you don't have a "self healing" skill, you need them in Cat due to the damage you take from mobs, which is a LOT more than we are used to. Well you don't "need" them, but they help offset down time.

I don't use bandages much leveling up but once I get to PvP, I tend to rely on them more. I imagine if you have a mana based class with healing (rather than my Rogue and Warrior), you may never use it. However, it is best to come to the party with all your tools just the same if there is a even a slightest chance you might need it.

I still use first aid almost every time I sit down to PvP. They don't do much, but its often worth it if you think about it and do it at the right times. If cloth was actually useful for something else there'd be another side to it, but at least on my server its usually cheaper to just vendor it after the AH cut. =/ I don't play healers that much so I couldn't say for them, but my deeps use em.

Look at it another way....is there any reason NOT to level it up? Sure it is not game breaking, but it does have its uses from time to time. In vanila it was more usefull, wotlk -> not so important. Lets see what Cat brings.

Imo, FA is good when you level even as a healing class to safe mana und reduce downtime every once in a while after a huuuuge pull Its also good in PvP but only for classes who can not heal. other than that its pretty much worthless... you will not get much money out of the cloth which comes along while you level or farm or whatever so just skill FA up....

I have FA maxed for my level. Even as a warrior, I rarely use the bandages. Cooking is better healing IMO because of the stat buffs. I've also noticed that I'm having to sell cloth more cheaply on AH now than I did before they removed the donation-for-rep NPCs, especially runecloth. I've had four auctions expire in the past week without the stacks selling, and that was after undercutting everyone else's prices

I always max it out because I have this fantasy that I'm in a 25man on the final boss and it's at 1% health, my entire raid is dead except for me, I'm out of mana and cooldowns, but I bandage and was able to stay alive to get that last hit in to save the day. Even if I still ended up dieing and the boss drops from my bleeds, at least I was alive long enough to get them on him. One day I swear this will happen.

Lots of HPs back Field Bandage: Dense Embersilk 1.5 sec cast Reagents: Heavy Embersilk Bandage (2) While not as efficient as using raw cloth, you can make a stronger bandage in a pinch by weaving heavy bandages together. Dense Embersilk Bandage Requires First Aid (500) Item Level 85 Use: Heals 35000 damage over 8 sec.

First Aid is something that I have leveled on all of my characters. It is a useful tool that doesn't take too long to level up. I do have to say though, that once leveling is done in Northrend bandages have gotten exceptionally useless since they do not seem to heal a decent percentage of HP once you start to gear up.

I guess for the effort it does take to level up as well as the gold you'll actually get from cloth you 'might as well'. It just felt like a waste on my Shammy when I had leveled it up and never used a bandage. I'd even just vendor the bandages eventually and they were never missed.
Both the classes I play now can heal themselves, and with my pally after a battle it doesn't even take mana just holy power. Maybe for PvP I'd find it useful, even then.. meh.
I might level it anyway just to see what Cata holds for FA, but right now I find it pretty useless.

Funny thing is.. this actually did sort of happen to me once, on a really terrible Sindragosa 10hc kill... where I got the Frostwing 10hc achievement done on my hunter.
Basically, things went royally wrong in the last %'s, ppl started panicing & iceblocks popped up left & right and at 1% or so, all there was left alive was the tank, a healer & me... in an iceblock which was almost broken. I pulled pet to attack my iceblock, the healer desperately attacked the iceblock, I broke free at the moment the healer got iceblocked, tank dies, my pet says RAWR, sindragosa goes nomnom free lunch, I popped a tick of bandage+healpot, fumble in panic when she comes charging at me, I see a large DODGE scroll up, disengage jumped backwards from her, shoot all I could throw at her before she got into my melee range, hits me & I survive with <2k health left, and then she died.
good times ^-^

As for why not, it's rather expensive to level up unless you have a high level pouring money into your account. Selling cloth is a good money maker.
