Someone lol'd at me for using Renew as a Disc priest, why?
PW:Shield + Penance + Renew + Flash Heal are like....the only spells I use and I'm kinda pro

Before 4.0.1 patch it was a waste of a cd that could have been used on a bubble, PoM, or Penance. It was simply a poor use of your because everything else was better. I haven't played my priest since the patch all that much so can't tell you if any thing has changed. I would imagine since you can now spec into Renew the value of it has increased dramatically.

Who the hell lol'ed at you for it?!
Shield and Mending before pull, penance and renew afterward. Rarely ever use anything else.
Flash Heal macro'ed with Inner Focus for a free heal when rarely needed, and Prayer of Healing also macro'ed with Inner Focus when rarely needed.
If we have anything else in our arsenal, I rarely use it in 5 man runs.
Renew crits making more bubbles ftw.

I use renew all of the time. I even throw it on players who arent hurt so I can get the damage bubble to proc.

I also macro Power Infusion to go off whenever I cast Smite. The haste and reduced mana cost makes firing off 5 of them a breeze.
I usually run with a Mage friend, so when it's a good time, I'll give him the PI instead. Macro'ed a whisper to it so he knows it's coming. For one point, I think it's a great talent.
I can imagine Inner Focus becoming more necessary when "healing mana matters" in Cataclysm.

Yah to get those 3, I actually skipped 3 points in Twin Disciplines (adds 6% to heals and damage.) I've always been a big fan of utility over everything else, so while my throughput is a bit lower (for direct heals as well as smite heals through Atonement) I am enjoying the other 3.
Well, other than Pain Suppression. I don't think I have ever had a need to use it, though it sure looks pretty.

lmfao, the funny thing is I ditched those 3 talents to get Twin Disciplines....I just felt the constant 6% bonus to damage and heals outweighed the cooldowns of the other abilities

Then I assume you took Inner Sanctum for +6% run speed?? 15% (ability) + 6% (talent) + 4% (enchant) = 25% permanent run speed buff, indoors and outdoors. Level 81+ is gonna rock!

Personally I find it one of the easiest ways to take care of dumb DPS:-
DPS gets aggro >> Shield >> Renew >> back to cleaning nails... if DPS dies, tis own fault! I think on the new fire boss (Flamelash), he generates a pool of fire on the ground, its funny to see the DPS stand there and die despite receiving 10-15k worth of health via shield and renew.
Also handy for topping people up between mobs and making sure the tank has some healing when I have to start shielding/healing other people... although I have no doubt I could put it to better use.
One of the many reasons I prefer Priest healing to Pally healing (even though Pallys are nigh invincible in PVP as they stand)

I haven't glyphed or talented Renew, but I use it anyway - not all the time, but when I need to top someone off and the group isn't stopping and my shield glyph doesn't get them there. I will also use it as a way to bolster my normal healing rotation if there is a lot of damage coming in.
