They have three beta weekends, and your key only gets you into one. They will email you, apparently.

These keys are similar to the ones they gave out awhile back. It doesnt give you access but flags your account for a higher chance to be selected and the more keys you have apply to your account the better the chance.
Crazy way of going about it.

Two factions
Dynamic World - depending on if rift faction is winning or defenders are.
Spec Tree called Souls - it appears that say a rogue can eventually get access to other classes abilities like mage portals in end game.
I don't do Betas but I will try it out in 2011 when it will be released.
Only negative I see so far is that it appears to be first person, hopefully that is an option they choose for the video.

I've felt this way since wotlk was released. war.. aion.. aoc.. and w/e other crap has released recently.. all utter fail and when i say fail I mean just horrendous design decisions and releasing of nearly 50% incomplete game functions. This isn't 1997-2001 anymore. This genre is not a cheap thing to get in to or release in to. Either go in 110% or don't go in at all.
I'm playing a web based game and doing group content in EQ right now. Web based game is probably some of the most fun I've had since uo pvp days but if you require an avatar for your enjoyment then it probably isn't the best.

They key is to always build fleet. fleet fleet fleet. Fleet produces income, with the income u make from ur hits rebuild the fleet you lost and build a bit extra as well to increase the fleet. Remaining income spend on infrastructure and tech. Use a battle calc to make the most efficient hits with lowest loss on yourself. A calc many people use is called aeproject, located at aeproject.org I believe.

Maybe you should read up on the game. I can fully understand why you are confused.
edit:
since I know you won't read it, I'll break it down for you. The person referring gets a 10% bonus of their total income ONCE per day per UPGRADED member they recruit. The person they recruit must upgrade their account for this bonus to take effect. I make one hit and I triple any bonus I could get referring people to the game, so no recruiting is not away to get ahead in this game. it is however a way to get more players playing. The newest server to open has had about 8k players on it so far so it's been pretty fun.

As far as nothing new goes WoW and War really haven't offered many new things as far as mmo's go. Other than the dungeon finder in WoW I really can't think of anything else.

from what I played the game is decent and for beta it's in way better shape than warhammer was at release it's almost as good as WoW was by the time it hit open beta. That said it should do ok it wont come close to WoW and if you were already bored with the rifts during the elemental invasion in WoW then yeah =)
It will be a nice game to try out if they ever have a free trial.. I'm starting to think that WoW might be the last mmo I ever play.

I doubt anything except maybe a ban from beta, if they ever manage to link this place to their accounts, which is most unlikely since I use totally different emails and data there, may happen to me. So why would I care? I could just tell you the game rocks or sucks, and the consequences would be negligible.
I don't fear the NDA. I respect it. It's a very different approach many here won't understand, but to be honest, I couldn't care less.
