Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

hee hee "so the lesson behind the story is that in order for an iphone picture to look good, you need a professional photographer, a super beautiful model, thousands of? dollars worth of lighting equipment, and finally a photo re-toucher. "

LOL fstoppers are good guys... but you were completely fooled. Sure you can get amazing photos from the iPhone. I don't contest that at all. I have a bunch of great iPhone photos on my flickr. However, his video illustrated world class studio lighting not the power of the iPhone >_<

I love fstoppers, especially their video with Peter Hurley. Anyways, i thought this video was cool. A lot of people gave them a ton of flack for using thousands of dollars of lighting to make their point that a crappy camera can take good pictures, but it just reinforced that quality of light can make or break a photo. There was also a good response video where some people took some great photos using only a lamp and some diffused window lighting with a cheap point and shoot. In the days where people(canon) think it's all about megapixels it's nice to see people putting the emphasis on the lighting and the subject and not the camera.

Lighting is everything. I struggle with available light and hope to one day have much better errr control (if you can call it that) over it. For now tho I just picked up 2 White Lightning x1600's. Going to use those with my sb-25 to work out my portfolio >_<

Yeah it really does make a huge difference. I just started using an off camera speedlight with an umbrella and really liking the results thus far. It really makes me want at least a second flash though, if not third. My bank account hates me.
