Time for our July contest!!
Since it is Baked Beans Month Let's see what you can do.
What more can you do other than opening a can
Best Baked Beans recipe wins.... How creative are you???????
The Winner will be chosen by a group of Moderators.
The contest Starts from Today and will run till July 29th
So go forth and cook!!!
Below are the Rules:

I do not like just "baked beans"...especially the NASTY canned ones like Bush's.
These are what we call Tennessee Beans
During my childhood, I spent many summers in Tenn. fishing Kentucky Lake. My parents friends that rented the cabins out made their beans like this for the huge fish frys we would have.
brown 1 pound ground beef *drain fat
4 cans of pork N beans (regular size cans) *drained
add beans to browned ground beef in baking dish
brown sugar (I don't measure) your choice of how sweet you like your beans
ketchup (I don't measure) your choice of how ketchupy(hehe what a word) you like your beans
1 med. chopped onion
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
*barbque sauce if desired...sometimes I do and other times I don't. (your choice) *to taste
6-10 strips of crisped bacon (crumbled) Put this deliciousness on top
Bake in oven until thickened and bubbly. Probably 40-50 mins.
YUM! They are so much better than just plain ole baked beans. These are HEARTY!!

I don't have my recipe in front of me so I'll see if I can remember it.
1 small pkg. great northern beans
1 medium onion, diced
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 to 2/3 cup dark molasses (to taste)
1 cup catsup
1/2 cup brown sugar (to taste)
1/2 lb. cooked bacon
1/2 tsp dry mustard (optional)
Soak beans overnight. Next day, cook beans, onion, salt and pepper until beans are soft but not mushy. Add the rest of the ingredients and bake in the oven 1 1/2 to 2 hours at 350 degrees or until a light crust forms on the top.

Take a couple of cans of pork and beans. Add as much as you like of your favorite bbq sauce to them, mix well.
Put in a uncovered baking dish, but BACON strips over the top.
Bake at 425 for 30 minutes.
Nobody has ever not liked that.

Voting has begun. I am sorry I just purchased a house and I have been knee deep in all kinds of work and will probably have a bunch more, but thanks for putting these recipes out here. Next Months contest might be a different reward if the managers say it is okay.
