Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Right before the end of the school year my second grader comes home with lice. Oh joy. So I check my other two daughters and yup sure enough...they have it too, though not as bad as the first child. Fortunately neither I or my husband show any signs of it, although every time we *think* about it we start feeling itchy...which we know is totally mental but it doesn't stop the heebie jeebies! This has totally put off our travel plans. No way I'm going to drive for a whole day down to Grandma's house, where their aunt and uncle and one year old are still living as well, until I'm sure they're louse and nit-free. Of course I wasted my money on those stupid shampoos with the piece of crap little plastic combs that don't work for ****. Now I have a one-day delivery out on some real lice combs that I know work. I used them before when my eldest had lice, almost 10 years ago. Nothing but fun, I tell you.

Matthias brought home lice from his daycare TWICE last year. Gave it to me BOTH )@(#*)@%&@)#(*@)(%* times. They have a product here in Denmark that's called Hedrin - it's not a poison, it's a silicone based liquid that when you put it in the hair (while the hair is dry) it coats each shaft, etc and the nits and then hardens, strangulating them. Put it in before you go to bed (needs to be in for 8 hours) and then over the next week comb, comb, comb. Yeah, I have waist length hair. That was a pain in my ass. They also recommend using hair conditioner while combing, to make the comb pass through easier.

make sure you wash all the clothing in the house and clean the sheets, pets, ect at the same time as using the shampoo. I remember once when I was growing up our family got them. I felt like I was a dirty person until I was informed that lice prefer clean hair to dirty hair, and that is most likely why we got it and not the kids with dirty hair in the same class.

Seriously, grab a bottle of cheap conditioner and use it to (for lack of a better word) lube up her hair to get the comb through it.

The Terminator Lice Comb arrived today, woot! Took the girls out into the back yard, and went through their hair very carefully. Thankfully there were only a few live bugs, but more than a few nits, blech. The comb got a lot, and then I went through their hair very carefully again and any nits I missed, I either pulled the hair strand out or cut it. Not taking any chances lol. Some of the nits were still small enough that the comb wouldn't pick em up. Trust me I did wash everything in the house. In hot water, dried on high. Or, if it wasn't washable, it went into bags. And I'll be going through their hair every day throughout the next week to make sure they're clean- and my husband and I are checking each other too! Just to be sure lol. Whew.

luckily for us, when Matthias brought it home it was the dead of winter out here, so all that couldn't be washed went out into the shed to freeze for 5 days.
