Anyone know how to get AC sound effects?

If i remember correctly portal opus was able to extract separate sound files from the portal.dat file or something but i honestly cant remember
Anyone know a way?

ATDATexplorer is one of your only ways of doing this.
It is under "standalone plugins" in the wiki's plugins section. You can also use Audacity to record your computer's sound output for taking sounds directly from the game as you play it.

But then the quality would be ass, and let's not forget background sound effects bleeding in.

Not neccecarily. I'm not talking about directly putting a microphone to the speaker... the method doesn't even require a microphone or any other device.
Its often called "whatuhear" in audacity, it basically "copies" any sounds your computer generates as you "record" directly from hardware. No quality loss here. The only downside is you can't seperate sounds if more than one sound effect is playing at once... so, if you want the death sound without the "swish" of your weapon, you might find it kind of hard to do.
You may find this method preferable in some cases over ACDATexplorer, especially if you're looking for a very specific sound. ACDATexplorer does not organize the sounds for you, so you have to just sift through every single sound effect until you find one (there are about 500+ sound effects in AC)

post on the Warcry board and just ask there for them to fix it. i've tried before but the more people that bug him (nicely) the better the odds of them getting that sound archive back up and running.
he posts on the Main AC Boards as Roberto also.
it was nice actually. all the sounds were named and categorized.
