	Whedon has no directing chops. He directed less than a dozen episodes of the shows he's so over-hyped for. I think the only film he has ever directed was Serenity. He is an idea man who ran out of ideas fifteen years ago and this is supposed to be good news? Dollhouse is so bad it is a travesty. I don't understand this choice at all. A writer and television producer who has been in a slump for two decades is supposed to be a good choice to direct a feature film? 	He has directed one movie, with a tiny budget, and it turned out excellent. I can't speak for Dollhouse because I haven't seen any of it, but I have seen every episode of Buffy, Angel and Firefly. Buffy admittedly ran on too long, but the man knows what he's doing, and the cancellation of Firefly was a travesty. He's heavily involved in the comic world and has written for several series, including X-men, and is a great choice in my opinion. Maybe not the best, but at least it won't be a clone of Michael Bay or Brett Ratner. edit: and a 2 decade slump? I'm going to start calling you Persistant for making up your own facts. Buffy didn't come out until '97, and Serenity was a success in 2005, with steady success in between. 	Come on, Serenity is not excellent. It's passable. I enjoyed it. But excellent? That said, I'm less worried about Whedon the director as Whedon the writer. I can't stand the "voice" he writes in much of the time. His dialogue style is totally grating to me. He wants it to be light and full of quips, but it comes off so forced. I almost feel like this move is partially a result of why Iron Man was so compulsively watchable, which is Robert Downey Jr.'s performance. But what Downey Jr. brings to the table naturally as a performer, Whedon struggles with as a scribe. -----signature----- (none)

	That's okay. I came off as a Joss Whedon fanboy, which I promise I am not. I've never seen an episode of Dollhouse or Tru Calling. But I still affirm that Serenity was an excellent movie. It helps to have seen the series beforehand, but still I loved it. 4 stars? No, but for a sci-fi movie with a $39 million budget, its pretty damn good. I have a small bit of hope again, after Wolverine and X-Men 3 were absolutely destroyed.
