Dixy Dog drive in At the end of the road that takes you into Ponca City Oklahoma. Burgers, fries, chili, tater tots, all cooked in "vintage" oil that imparts a unique flavor. Then if you want a fabulous Mexican meal, go to the Ponca Airport. It is so good it got mentioned in the Wall Street Journal in an article about destinations for private small plane pilots.

Wrangler Steak House Navasota Texas Chicken Strips and French Fries both were pure awesome, i think they get rolled in dry ranch dressing mix before getting fried ... Sunday afternoon buffet was pure awesome --- rib-eye roast, buttered cabbage, green beans, corn bread, collard greens, fried okra ... and much much more

Redrum Burger (formerly Murder Burger) Davis, CA Burgers of all kinds (Ostrich, Bison, Veggie etc.) Cheese fries and shakes are the best part (at least for us vegetarians) Caveat- Haven't been there in years. Cafe Delmarette Santa Cruz, California Scones and pastries are great- plus, a family member co-owns it, so the more business it gets the better.

The Village Inn in Minier, Illinois is about 10 miles off the nearest Interstate is a small rural community. Great steaks and other American style favorites. One of the best small salad bars in this part of the USA. A top quality meal with out pretense. But it is best to not just stop by unless you don't mind a long wait to be seated we usually call for a reservation. If you just want to drop in the Burger Barge in East Peoria, Illinois caters to boaters on the Illinois river in the warm months serves some of the best burgers I've ever had.

Twin Dragon Mongolian Bar-B-Que 612 East 15th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501-5307 it is awesome ... they have a "salad-bar type" of line where you fill a plate with the veggies and meats you want ... when you get to the cook station you tell them the style you wanted it cooked and they add sauces accordingly .... they toss it on a flat cast iron surface that is about 3 feet across ... grill it and mix it with 2-foot long chopsticks and when it is done they sling it off into your bowl i thought it was the coolest thing when i was 16 .. the egg drop soup is also the best i have ever had
