No. It starts out with the mockumentary style, and goes back to it fairly often as a way of getting across exposition, but plenty of stuff is presented in the traditional narrative form.

Well saw the movie and I got 1 question. If the aliens weapons where so much more powerful why did they just defend their selfs? I mean at the end of the movie there was over 2.5 mil of them...

Couldn't you say that about any oppressed group, though? That's sort of the obvious metaphor in the film. The aliens were direct copies of themselves, and the majority of the aliens were "worker bees", without much drive or independent spirit, so there was little hope for progress. Sort of like the poor classes with no social mobility, lack of education, etc...

the aliens were black people. how you could miss that when it's a parallel with a space ship for apartheid is beyond me.

To be fair, though, one could have understood the apartheid symbolism and still missed the in-movie reason for the aliens not fighting back. The fact that the majority of the aliens were workers who had no motivation without their queen was something that was not hammered over the audience's collective head.

what I loved was the fact that they were all on the ship for what? weeks? when they first arrived?
AND IN THAT TIME THEY COULDN'T HAVE FOUND A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUEL WHICH THEY GOT FROM THEIR OWN GARBAGE ANYWAY?!?!?!
WHICH I GUESS IS ALL THEY FREAKING NEEDED TO BLAST AWAY
AND IF YOUR CASE IS THAT THEY COULDN'T CARRY ALL THE WEIGHT, WHY NOT JUST HIDE OUT BEHIND WHILE ALL THE WORKERS WENT DOWN AND WHEN THEY WERE DOWN THERE, GRABBED SOME FUEL, DUMPED IT IN, AND FLY OFF!?!?!?

other than that I liked the movie when I saw it in theaters

Yeah you would have to be a moron not to get the parallel to aparthied but that didnt answer my question. I could tell you that if the south africans had weapons that could STOP bullets and then use those bullets as weapons.. apartheid wouldnt of lasted as long as it did....
I will say that I did miss the queen bee part...that did answer my question..

other than that I liked the movie when I saw it in theaters
they leave the details out for a reason, anything could have happened to for force them to abandon ship. And the fuel the 1 guy makes he doesn't get it directly from their technology, he has to synthesize it drop by drop, which took them what, 20 years? so i'm guessing they wanted to seek refuge in the mean time and didn't think they would be treated that way, or just some things went terribly wrong in the beginning with leadership.
