Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Lifetank X freezes when logging in
|
So, I have a new PC with Windows 7 64bit. I have installed AC, Decal and Dual Client which all function properly. However as soon as I check the box for Lifetank X, my characters will load for two seconds, freeze, and acclient.exe just crashes. I am running decal/acdc/ac in XP SP2 compatibility and as administrator. Does LTX have any known issues that freezes that crashes a client upon loading? Here is the error windows 7 reports: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: ACClient.exe Application Version: 0.0.11.3957 Application Timestamp: 4b26ac70 Fault Module Name: Did you install lifetank/decal in c:\program files? If you did you should move those to another directory.

go back to draiker's site, further down the page is a link to .net 1.1 install that.
and no, haveing .net 2.0 installed won't help. see if that clears up the problem.
ac-dc needs 1.1 even though i don't quickly see it listed as required in notes.
closer examine under the re-written in c so now needs .netframework IS buried in the notes.
AT the time that stuff was written there was ONLY .netframework 1 or 1.1 no 2 or 3 had been released so it is understandable that the phrase .netframe work 1 was omitted cause the ONLY .netframe work that existed was one.
so IF you saw that note and said i've got .network 2 installed so i'm good to go it's understandable how you made the mistake assuming 2 covers 1 as it's a later improved version. when from a technical point, it doesn't. programs written/complied against 1 must have one to run. which is why folks like me that have old programs we run now have 1.1 2.x and 3.5 installed on their machine. any program run that uses the .framework stuff searches out the version it needs and uses it. so AC-dc on your computer can't find 1 or 1.1 and barfs probably causing you issues.

Dual Client works fine. As does decal. It's only when the plugin Lifetank X is running does Asheron's Call freeze when logging in. Seriously, 2 seconds in, AC just freezes.. .NET Framework [v1.1.4322] (1.1 Final) : Installed

is this the one that needs an 'authorization check' from a server.
and most of the auth servers were pulled, so getting a response is unlikely. I think server2 or 3 is the only one left.
Nope that was the end=of-life announcement for LT XI

UAC= User access control (i think thats right) Anyway, to turn it off go to your start menu and then to run type in msconfig When the box opens go to the last tab. You will see a list of tools available. If you scroll to the botton there are two script to enable or disable UAC.

I am noticing that any plugin that has its own stand alone filter (darkside filter for lifetank) is having this hanging issue when logging in and out.
I use another plugin with its own filter and the same thing happens even without lifetank.

UAC fixed mine...was having the same exact issue on vista 32-bit, sp 2.
Moved Decal to a c:\Games\Decal folder and then turned off UAC. Updated decal, loaded up LTx and jumped ig...np at all.
Thanks for the solution.

If you turn off UAC then you don't need to move the files to a different folder.
