This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least 20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per page).

 Subject: AC Dual Client prob with 2nd instance
New install of AC Dual Client.
I already patched and copied all files to the 2nd directory.
AC DC starts the 1st instance just fine.
I'm getting this error trying to start the 2nd instance of AC
during "Checking for Patches"
"Patching failed because a downloaded file was corrupted."

I have "Dual Client" checked.

Any ideas?

I'm getting the same error, was searching boards for a solution and saw your post, but no solution. sad

I guess I'll have to uninstall AC and dual client and start from scratch? who knows?

For the other poster if you are still having problems create a new topic with your problem stated and put a decal export in the body of the message.

Open up decal and there is a button to the right that says export. After you click that, hit the export button. That will copy of the information to the clipboard. Then paste the information here.

Ok, I'll try a decal export, but this is a Dual Client problem. The second client does not get past the "checking for patches" stage before it gives the error message.

the /2 folder has all the same files and the AC folder?

if one of the files in the /2 folder is corrupted, error message. may want to try the path options tab and copy files from the AC folder into th /2 folder. HERE i'm presupposing that the AC folder is OK, and the corrupted file is in the /2 folder

I've deleted and recopied the files a few times and I still get the corrupted file error message. I can play the game fine in single user mode, it's just when I try to start a second client. I've used dual client for years, but did reformat my hard drive in december - resubbed my second account a few days ago and reinstalled dual client, now it doesn't work. Additionally, if I have the "start decal" box checked, decal won't start when using AC DC, but decal works fine if I don't use AC DC to play.

Before reformat, I saved all my AC files, downloads, etc. to flash drive and reinstalled them after format, so the files are duplicates of what I was using before the reformat, maybe something didn't copy correctly? Maybe I should just delete AC and redownload it from Turbine, I don't know, it works fine, just AC DC has a problem with it.

Sorry, but 3 mo. ago I was playing on my crappy laptop from a condo in Hawaii.
I can't remember how or if I fixed it. I do remember having another Mai Tai wink

I was thinking that I could just delete the .DAT file that is downloaded when the launcher begins, then when this patch is done, I will reload all the data fresh. Problem is, I'm not sure which one to delete - I opened explorer and looked at the .DAT files:

client_highres

client_portal

client_cell_1

client_local_English

If you know which one is the right one to delete I believe this could solve my problem. happy

I got it working, apparently I messed with IE proxy settings a while back and IE couldn't connect with internet, reset that to detect automatically, now it works fine - wish AC worked on Mozilla, heh.
