I got a few like this one in the middle. It resembles a butternut squash but the flesh is more like an acorn squash. Went after it with my butcher knife but it's got a tough skin, left a lot on table.

If the skin is thin use a carrot/potato peeler if not, use a paring knife

I'd use a mandolin slicer if using a knife is too difficult. Silver

I'd stick with the paring knife, but I wouldn't really peel them. I'd cut them into quarters or some manageable size and use a knife to separate the flesh from the peel like I would with a canteloupe.

Technically yes but the technique is different. I think the squash would be too firm for that but I'll give it a try. It's yummie grilled.

I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to word it or label it. Waht I'm trying to describe is flattening your knife and cutting between the peel and the flesh in one long motion, which is how I "peel" a canteloupe. It's very different from peeling a fruit or vegetable from the outside.

I disagree. The motion is completely different. At least it is when I do it. I don't want to quibble about it, though, but at least now you know what I meant.

I use a paring knife for almost everything!!
LOL at Lyli, and I gotta agree with ya.
I slice my cantelope into pieces (long ones), and then I peel it. Or if I want cubes, I make the slices, use the paring knife to make the cubes, then peel them from the skin.

More like how you take the skin off a fish? (With the blade flat to the cutting surface and the skin (or peel) on the down side.)

Exactly! It's more like skinning a fish than peeling something.
