happy Getting this in just in time.

User: Stiger

Challenge: Objects/Abstracts/Textures

Level: Wuss (Due to my work schedule, I often go 3 or 4 days without taking any photos. And taking pics of objects in my house or work just isn't my thing. Gimme the outdoors)

Equipment: Canon Digital Rebel XTi, 70-300mm IS lens, 50mm lens, and maybe my 10-20mm ultrawide

Gallery: Even though I'll only display one shot per post, all my shots from my object hunting will be visible here.

*reason for this challenge: Wildlife and Landscapes are my favorite genres. But I often miss the smaller objects that make nice photos. I'm trying to train my eyes to see the smaller interesting details that I don't always notice when looking at the overall grand scene.

An accidental abstract.

"Heron at Take Off"

I went to Black Moshannon State Park at the butt-crack of dawn this morning. The sun was just coming up, but there were some thick clouds, so it was still somewhat dark. As I walked into the bog, this heron saw me first and took off. I tried to track it and get some shots, but I had my camera's ISO set too low for the scarcity of light. When I checked my viewfinder, all I saw was a blurry mess. But I didn't delete the shot in the camera because it looked like I had some decent colors. When I got it on the computer, I kinda liked the shot. I don't really do abstracts, but since I've had this challenge in mind for a week or so I figured I'd use it here.

I didn't have much time to get out and about today. So I walked down to the pond/park behind my house. There are a lot of ducks that hang out there, but on my way around the pond, I saw these leaves. I liked the lines and texture. I used the Topaz Detail plugin for photoshop to bring out some more of the detail.

The Heron one is very pretty.

I like the color on the leaves too

From a trip to Ohiopyle State Park. Leaves down everywhere, not much red in the leaves yet. The area needs another week or two to hit peak color. But I liked the yellow against the moss on this rock.

Taken with the 50mm lens. I had the aperture at f/2.8 because it was still fairly dark. I wish I had it stopped down more because the bottom right corner is out of focus.

A quick shot of a mountainside that I passed this morning as I was driving down random roads in the middle of nowhere.

Slightly larger shot here.

Looks like I'm the only one still keeping up with this challenge. I figured everyone else would have 3 or 4 entries to each one of mine.
