Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Anyone up for doing this? Here's my thought process on each photo... Great concept! I'd liked to have either see more of his face or a tighter zoom with just the hand and water and all of the bowl. The hat was distracting A little blurry in places and the yellow was too strong for my taste. Love how the drip turned out, it looks like a person with their arms out. My favourite photo, absolutely no crit I can give on this, love it. I like it but nothing really grab my attention and pulls me in. I know we can't do much in the manip side for these contests, but I'd love to see it spot coloured with the leaves in fall colours. That would grab me. Stunning photo, would love to see it in B&W Another favourite. The log is a little distracting (though totally unavoidable), but not much. Great photo, a little dark for my taste, but it does give it a lovely almost mystical feel. My third favourite. Nothing negative to say, it's stunning. A perfect moment in time and great topic, just lacking a bit with the depth of field and composition. I'm guessing it was taken with a point and shoot? If it was taken in portrait mode the poor baby wouldn't have lost his tail and fin Next!

My thoughts
Great focus, composition and timing. Annoying halo around the hand, and I don't think the water emerges as the main focus.
Great timing and composition, I don't like that the bowl is part of the shot though, and the focus is a bit off.
Loveley photo, I'd take it with a even faster shutterspeed myself though, that a matter of preferance though :]
Cool concept and a great pic for your wall. I don't think that water was the focus here though.
Both of stigs pics are wonderful, the I can't comment on anything technical, Color might a tad too oversaturated for my taste, but other then that, two thumbs up.
Well, both of these are obviously perfect :>
Great timing, wonderful colors. The background is crooked and kinda disturbing, and its shot a bit to head on for my tastes.
Sneaky Shalis, leaving your own pics out..
Perfect focus, great composition. Perhaps a bit too busy.
Great composition and colors, very nice capture of a small rainbow. What I don't like are the open spaces in the bottom and top right corners.

On my whalepedo pic, I had just got my 18-250mm lens and was trying it out. That pic was taken at 250mm zoom. I probably should have backed out some, but was honestly playing around more than anything. Hell, I think I was even in full auto setting since most of the pics that day were just for quick shots of the kids. I loved that shot because you can see the water rolling off the whales back.

I would have loved to see this from another angle so you can see more of the boys expression. Is he having fun, or being tortured and forced to do this :P Also would have loved to see more of an angle, more down towards the bowl. As is looks as if it could be a blown glass statue. Not much to say on this one other than great shot. This one to me I just don't see it as water. Had that not been the theme for the contest, I would just think you used a smudge tool really well. I love these when you can turn water into a silky river. Same as the other. On both of them I do love the vivid contrasts that the green of the forest creates. This one makes me think of a motivational photo. I love the capture on this one. Perfect timing with the beads of water hitting the rest.
