Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Not sure if you guys will be up for this, but I thought it might be a fun thing to do once a week. We're photo bloggin'...
My husband won a guitar this week! So, he wanted some "arty" shots of him with it to show his friends. Now before I show you anything, I'll give you my excuses first As always, lighting and I have issues, it is my major bug bear. I wish I could justify the expense of a backdrop, frame and lights (as well as have the space to keep them). Maybe it's time to google up ways to do this on the cheap. Anyway, I muddled though with my flash set to bounce the light as best it can. My house is dark, very dark, I did try a few without the flash but they were blurry I upped my iso to get that nice arty grainy look (as well as brighten the shots) and I did some HEAVY post processing in Lightroom. I'm not sure how I feel about them, this is my first real attempt at this kind of shot, so crits would be awesome. http://www.achilles-shield.net/photo/?level=album&id=23 Thanks
So what did you do this week?

I really like them Shal, you seem to have a natural gift for poses. 3,4 and 5 are the best IMO. And Shal, you don't need a expensive set up.(until you can afford it) All the portrait "art" shots I do, I do with 1 or 2 clip on lamps from Target (About 8 bucks a piece), 2 60 watt bulbs, and using my shutter speeds. Try it.

Hehe, I think you mean, "He's a natural poser." He knew what he wanted his shots to look like so I just had to stand there and shoot I will definitely need to rig something up, I really want to get in to portraits though I need more willing victims The third one was a happy accident, he was just looking out the window while I was playing with my settings, I looked up, liked what I saw and told him not to move

Aye, some of my best and favorite portraits happened by accident.
