Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Take one item from the recipe posted above you and make a new recipe.
For instance I post:
Baked Potato soup
This flavorful baked potato soup is loaded with cheese and baked potatoes. Top this thick soup with the cooked bacon and green onions just before serving.
Ingredients:
8 to 10 slices bacon, diced, about 8 ounces
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup diced celery
1 cup diced onion
1 bunch green onions, about 8 green onions, thinly sliced
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups chicken broth
2 cups half-and-half ( I use reg milk its just not quite as thick and rich)
4 large baking potatoes, baked, peeled, and diced (make extras when you are making baked potaoes)
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
8 ounces sour cream
8 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Sliced green onion for garnish, optional
Preparation:
In a Dutch oven or large kettle over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove bacon to paper towels to drain and pour the bacon drippings into a cup. Put 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings back into the pan along with the butter, chopped onion, and celery. Cook, stirring, until vegetables are tender. Stir in the sliced green onion and flour until blended. Stir in chicken broth; cover and continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the mixture is thickened and vegetables are very tender. Stir in half-and-half, diced potatoes, salt, pepper, and cheese. Continue cooking until cheese is melted. Blend about half of the soup in batches until smooth. Add the blended soup back to the pot and add sour cream. Cook, stirring constantly, until soup is hot. Serve the soup garnished with bacon and extra sliced green onion, if desired.
The person below me takes the bacon from my recipe and makes their own recipe using it. and BTW this recipe is awesome!!!!! Herbs and spices dont count use one of the 'main' ingredients.

Charbroiled Tuna with Spicy Pepper Sauce - 2 red bell peppers, roasted and chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 tbsp. chipotle pepper, chopped
- 1 tbsp. cumin seed, toasted
- juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp. fresh chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 6 oz. fillets albacore tuna
In a food processor, combine the roasted red bell peper, garlic, chipotle pepper, cumin seed, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. Slowly add the olive oil to the mixture to fully emulsify it. Add the parsley and the rosemary and adjust the taste with salt and pepper.Place the albacore in a shallow pan. Divide the sauce mixture in half. Coat the albacore in 1/2 of sauce and place in the refrigerator to marinate for 30 minutes. Reserve the other half of the sauce at room temperature.Grill the tuna over medium heat, basting with marinade, for 2-3 minutes. Be careful basting as the oil in the marinade could cause flare ups if grilling over flame. Flip the fillets, and continue cooking 2-3 minutes more, basting occassionally. The tuna should be slightly flak when done, but not dry.Serve the tuna hot, either topped with the reserved sauce, or the sauce on the side.
serves 4

Chorizo Stuffed Bell Peppers * 6 bell peppers, tops cut off and seeded * 1 pound chorizo sausage * 1 stalk celery, minced * 1 carrot, minced * 1/2 cup chopped onion * 4 cloves garlic, minced * salt and pepper to taste * 1 (14.5 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, chopped * 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce * chopped fresh parsley * chopped fresh basil * 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice * 1/2 cup water * 1/3 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese * 1/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese * 1/3 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese * 1 (10.75 ounce) can tomato soup 1. Bring a large pot of water to boil. Place peppers in boiling water, and cook 5 minutes. Remove, and set aside to cool. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 3. In a large skillet, cook chorizo until almost brown. Drain fat. Stir in celery, carrots, onions, and garlic. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, basil, rice, and water. Cover, and simmer until rice is cooked, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat, and mix in Monterey Jack, Cheddar, and Mozzarella cheeses. 4. Place peppers upright on a baking sheet. Stuff each pepper with the chorizo mixture. Sprinkle extra cheese on top. 5. In a small bowl, combine tomato soup with just enough water to give the soup the consistency of gravy. Pour generously over peppers. Cover with foil. 6. Bake in preheated oven about 30 minutes.

SPINACH SAUSAGE BRUNCH CASSEROLE
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 cup onion, chopped, about 5 ounces
8 ounces provolone cheese, shredded and divided *
2 roasted red bell peppers chopped, divided, 7 ounces *
10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, 1 ounce
8 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped, or 1 teaspoon dried
Brown the sausage and onion; drain on paper towels. Spread the sausage in the bottom of a greased 9x13" baking dish. Sprinkle half of the the provolone cheese and half of the chopped red pepper over the sausage then top with the spinach. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over everything.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and cream until well blended. Whisk in the salt and basil. Pour the egg mixture evenly over everything. Bake at 425º 20-25 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean and the casserole is lightly browned. Sprinkle the remaining red peppers and the provolone cheese over the top of the casserole. Bake another 2-3 minutes until the cheese has melted. Let stand 5 minutes then cut into squares.
Makes 8 servings
Can be frozen
* I couldn't find provolone cheese in a chunk so I bought a bag of shredded 6-cheese Italian blend which contained some provolone. You'll need to buy a 12 ounce jar of roasted red peppers to get two 3 1/2-ounce peppers.
