My kid loves everything so I can't help with that. He had a great time helping mommy make cupcakes though. And when she makes pancakes she lets him scoop out batter and put it on the pan. (Carefully obviously since it's hot.) He's helped her add food colouring to cakes. One time she gave him a small bowl of water and he kept adding colours to it. Then he swirled his hands around for a bit. Took two days to wash off.

I suggest buying a kids cookbook or checking one out of your local library. They have great recipes that kids tend to love. Many times it's a spin on a familiar dish but other times it's something new. The ones at our house have great pictures that show different steps very clearly.

My daughter was a very picky eater and I had to come up with some tricky ways to get her to eat. Sometimes it was just pure stubborness one day out of the blue she decided she didnt like gravy I promptly renamed it sause and she would eat it without a complaint.
if its vegetables or something like that remember you can always run them through a blender and hide them meatloaf can be doctored up with all kinds of things this way. Muffins are also a good place to hide good for you foods.
And as was mentioned above kids are more willing to try or even eat foods that they have helped prepare. my daughter was not much of a salad eater but once she got to make it it suddenly became a favorite.

Yeah I've heard lots of parents sneak vegetables (pureed) into pretty much anything. My kids love pretty much everything I make for them, though. I have never seen the point of feeding the kids something different than the rest of the family or more "kid friendly" like stupid kids' menus in restaurants. They can develop a palate as well, and they never will if all they eat is plain, bland, chicken fingers & fries, hotdogs and mashed potatoes.

Let them try making sushi. They can have fun making the vegetable rolls (cucumber, etc) or California rolls. It's nice to let them explore something new, and I'm surprised how many kids love the dried seaweed (nori)...
