so we are supposed to fly to Texas today...

my little one has been running fevers for the last two nights in a row and last night my older daughter woke up crying that her ear hurt.
our doctor's appointment is two hours before we have to leave for the airport.
my sister in TX has a two-month-old baby that may or may not have a stomach virus (they aren't sure).
I'm thinking this trip may not happen now. :/
merry effing Christmas to me.

like I posted on ACF, yeah, we didn't go. the doctor could find nothing wrong with either kid, then the minute we got back to the house and finished up packing, my oldest came down with the flu.
someone out there really, REALLY did not want us to travel yesterday.

...and we nearly wrapped up December 25 with a trip to the ER as my oldest spiked a fever of 105F. O.O yikes!! I had to wonder when she started asking bizarre questions and making weird comments while seemingly half-asleep. 
we were going to give her Motrin and the nurse's hotline said to give her an extra 50% more on top of the regular dosage. she's drenched now and sleeping, thank God. otherwise we were to call back and they'd admit us to the ER in advance. glad we didn't have to go that route.
and with that, I'm going to bed -- I'm probably going to spend the night with my kid. good night.

golly, that must have been terrifying!
we just had to put up with my son throwing up all night Christmas night ... nothing like waking up to that sound *sigh*
he didn't eat anything for 36 hours after that, and that's unheard of for him... he's a boy who's always loved his food

hope your son is doing better now Rhylla.
we finally got in to see the pediatrician today and she found that my daughter has raging infections in both ears. but she doesn't think that necessarily explains the high fevers (that weren't responding to Tylenol at all, only to Motrin). checked her white cell count and it was fine, everything else was fine so we dunno. but even after just one dose of antibiotics her color became MUCH better. hopefully this will help.
I used to spike very high fevers as a kid myself though so now I see what it must have been like from my mom's perspective. Whenever I got sick, I'd run these ridiculously high fevers that would have me hallucinating, calling people by the wrong names, acting crazy (like violently crazy), etc. It was always wild to come back to earth and listen to my mom explaining what I'd actually been doing when I thought I was just listening to jabbering voices and feeling my blankets grow to a mountain and shrink to a thread or watching monsters devouring my bed, that sort of thing.
anyway we're to go back for a follow-up visit on Tuesday, hopefully we'll see some real improvement by then.

ooo ear infections are nasty! good to hear she's doing better
my son's ok... still a little below par, his appetite's still not right, but at 16 he can deal with most bugs pretty well.
Just found out that all his friends have gone down with it too...they've steadily dropped, one by one, over the last few days.

Wow....what a sucky Christmas for you guys!
My mom came down with a cold Christmas Day and we're pretty sure it has turned to pneumonia (does that since she fell and cracked her ribs this year). Best part is she gave it to me and the SO, so we're both sick now.
