My wofe and I noticed this as well, and the ad for the show was during the deliberations, so we were like, "ok, Adam doesn't win....that was his pitch" Which was sad, because I was routing for him
The worst part is he probably gets squat for the idea too, since I would imagine Food Network makes them sign all kinds of waivers etc.

I don't watch commercials, but I think it sucks that they basically stole his idea and cut him out of it. What a douchebag move, but I'm not surprised after what they've done recently to Mario Batalli and Emeril.

Emeril, one of their biggest stars and the man who brought prime time prominence to the Food Network, had his show, Emeril Live, cancelled. They agreed to let him do his less-watched show, Essence of Emeril, if he wanted to stay with the network. He ended up selling all the rights to his shows to Martha Stewart and now appears on her Fine Living network.
Mario Batali, another of the people who made the Food Network what it is today, had his show canceled, but they still expected him to perform on Iron Chef America. He declined and left to do a series on PBS.
They've replaced these two power houses with people no one seems to watch thus far. I say they're douchebags for treating these guys like they did.

I agree that a lot of the new shows are pretty lame. I used to watch Food Network all the time and now find myself scrolling past it if I get the chance to watch TV these days. If they were gonna axe someone "big" I wish it of been Giada Her head is just far to large for her body and her mannerisms annoy the crud outta me

The only thing I'll watch on the Food Network anymore is Good Eats. Occasionally my husband will watch Ace of Cakes but even that show is growing tiring.

I used to watch the Food Network almost 24/7. If there was nothing else on, I was watching cooking shows.
Now, the Food Network is following the faulty path of MTV. Instead of showing cooking shows, they're showing all kinds of other filler crap in prime time. I don't care how something gets to my table. I don't care how it's manufactured. I don't care where people eat on vacation. I care about cooking. I want to see people COOK, not eat.
I hate the new shows and I rarely watch except a bit here and there on Saturday mornings and the occasional Good Eats.

Okay, I have to say it since no one else has . . .
I think Food Network is playing the race card now to reach more demographics. Seriously, Aaron's whole idea seems to be right in line with Down Home with the Neely's. I don't see it as something new and different. The past year has seen them add at least 3 shows with black hosts. There is the new "how it got to my table" and something that looked like a chef bootcamp style The Chef Jeff Project. About 54 hosts/chefs on Food Network. No asians other than Iron Chef (I didn't count the originals that are no longer on the show), until the last year, maybe 2 black hosts/chefs. Now they are up to 6 I think including Aaron. Let's be honest. There have been a few Asian chefs over the years (Iron Chef sort of fits, but we have had Yan and Ming), but the overwhelming majority have been white.
Their previous decisions to cut back on Emeril and can Mario to create a more hip and appealing cast plays right into this stance the network has taken.
I think Adam had the best damn unique pitch AND he is entertaining.
And for those that want to see it, Big Daddy's House premiers today at 1330hrs. What a great timeslot eh? I have the DVR set to record it just to see how it goes.
I would have liked to know how many takes each contestant had for their taping segments. Would have been very telling in how well they can adapt and correct themselves.

So....did anyone watch Big Daddy's House?
Am I the only one who thinks he burned several items because he hasn't figured out his time management?
I really wasn't impressed. I will not watch again.

Good! I still think the execs picked the wrong person to win . . . and stealing the idea of web interaction for Aida was just deplorable. Unless of course they did have the web interaction idea and just had not made it known, then it is great minds think alike.
I will definitely watch Adam's show.

I would watch Adam if he had a cooking show, but this is another example of the Food Network going the way of MTV. I have no desire to watch another "informative" show instead of a cooking show.

OMG what a Boring Show! Thank goodness it was only 30 minutes.
I could not follow half of what he was doing. He burned at least 2 items. The upside down Ciabatta for grilling was just lame. I want a soft inside, not double crusty. The fries didn't look all that crispy, not to mention ingredients no kids would want to eat in those quantities. Anyone figure out how long he actually cooked the fries? lol Oven is at 325, we'll turn it up to 350 for 15 minutes, then crank it up to 400. Oy!

Told ya he burned several things, Tazzer. His fries looked soaked in oil instead of crispy. He didn't even make his own salad dressing and used it right out of a bottle.
What a JOKE.
