This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive. ~

It is time for a couple new appliances my ancient (1970) GE that does double duty just needs to be replaced.
For the can opener I would prefer an under the top cabinets mount manual or electric but one that solidly grips cans and always cuts out the top.
Oh I love my carbon steel kitchen knives but they do need sharpening a lot more often than stainless steel. I have a good sharpening steel but I need a new edge sharpener electric or manual.

Basically: Grinding edge to get rid of all burrs, dings, etc. Sharpening edge. Honing edge. Anything that does all 3 is what you really want. If knives just need a good sharpening and are not too dinged up, just use the sharpening and/or honing sections.

That is kind of what I figured on the can openers. I don't use it much but it has started to fail to cut lids out.
