Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Help! Installation issue.

So I just recently installed new ram, added another gig, and after I did that, I could not open AC. I would double click the icon and nothing would happen, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall. Now when I go to install the game, I get this error, "Unhandled Exception: Error Number: 0x80040707, Description: DLL function call crashed: ISRT._WaitonDialog"
ISO Help please

This sounds more serious then what is talk about in this forum.
Do the basics to rule out some things. Remove the new ram and return to what you had for ram. See if that returns everything back to normal.
If so, work from there .. did you buy the correct type ram? .. is the OS (XP, Vista, etc..) reconizing it correctly? .. does your graphics run on shared memory and is that mess up? .. BIOS configured correctly for it?
There is very little here from you for us to assist you with. But there may be too much to ask .. better for you to check with someone there (your home toen) to be sure you have the correct "memory upgrade" before going further here on this forum.
Good luck with it.

Hm.. sounds like antivirus messing things up.. worth a try anyway. Uninstall AC, disable your antivirus software, then re-install it. Just don't forget to re-enable it again afterwards

If the only thing you changed was the ram, try removing it and seeing if that fixes it. If so you may have some faulty ram. You could also try running memtest86 for a bit and see if it turns up any errors.

well, I ran in safe mode, and tried installing and got it to work. Probably was a service running in the background, or not running, and that was interfering. I run XP, the system recognized that new memory was installed, it is the correct for my system and nothing else is screwed up with it.
And I don't run Anti-Virus. I use the AVG free version and don't run it automatically.
