Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Findit crashes AC to desktop when I open a gold corpse

THis definitely only happens when I have Findit on and only on SOME corpses. It also happens when I have JUST findit on as well. Here's the error:
"Runtime Error!
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information."
Here's my export:

Findit crashes AC to desktop when I open a gold corpse
|
Oddly enough, this just started happening to me today, out of the blue, and not just on Gold corpses, but on any corpse, or my house chest. I've been searching high and low on the forums for some kind of reason for this issue.
I hunted fine for hours this morning, and then out of the blue, this Runtime error box began, and after disabling all plug-ins, and enabling them one at a time, I narrowed it down to FindIt! (one of my all time favorite plug ins, so this is a bummer for me.)
Preface: I have not installed any new plug-ins, nor have I changed any of my Decal configurations in months. I've not downloaded any kind of software or installed any new software, nor have I visited any website that I don't normally visit (which is a grand total of 5 sites, lol) I only run a few plug-ins, and an export would likely be of little use here, as I've already gone over it and see nothing amiss. I'll be happy to post it however, if Gouru thinks it would help.
Things I've tried: I did a "repair", without success, I uninstalled FindIt! completely, and then did a fresh re-install, again without success, and I even re-installed Decal completely, without success.
I notice on the Decal forums from 2005, others were having this issue that was related to having a wand detection setting of a zero value, but that bug was fixed, and I can verify that my wand settings were all non-zero numbers, as I do indeed, loot wands.
This issue makes little sense to me, as I have used this plug-in for many years without a single crash or issue. And yet I'm at a total loss as to how to fix this.
Gouru, if you read this, and would be so kind to tell me how to turn on Find It! tracing, I'd be happy to provide more information, but I have searched the DecalDev forums all day now, and was not able to find out how you turn that on to get the call info. I also downloaded debugview, and if you PM me your email I can email that output if you wish.

doesn't the findit EULA state this can't be used in conjunction with lifetank/eltank combat type macros?
if you have alicno installed why are you bothering with Findit? findit is more of a quick and dirty without a lot of the controls that were avaialble in the earlier looter-searchers (unless G has added a ton of flexibility).

I had similiar Issues hunting on ML with FindIt! a while back. It was so random I swapped to Alinco for detection.

You'll notice that there is a 0 next to Lifetank there. I don't use them in conjunction, I just have them both installed. Is it against the findit EULA to have both installed?
Alinco doesn't pop up when a gold shredder is nearby, it just does the arrow. It also doesn't provide a way for me to click on something in the plugin window to select the gold shredder that it finds. Findit does everything I want it to, simply.

It was a rhetorical question, the EULA states that you are not allowed to "USE" sortit with any plugin that violates the Asheron's call COC, including combat macros. It would be impossible for me to USE sortit with LT when I don't have LT active and am not USING it.

THE EULA use to read you couldn't have it installed on the same computer whether or not LT was running.
you can change alicno to popup the list box instead of the arrow when stuff is detected.

Yeah, but that's not what it says now. El is correct...and I suspect that's why Gouru didn't ignore this post

I was afraid somebody was gonna ask that Now I got to go look it up.
Ah...it should already be turned on ... to capture the debug trace you need a utility such as dbgview (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647.aspx)
You can set it to capture to a log, and filter the output to include only FindIt debug.
Usually about the last 30 lines of the debug output is enough for me to locate the crash.

LOL Sorry I actually already downloaded debugview yesterday, so I will have to play around with that to get what you need. I've never used a program like that before, so I'm not 100% sure I'll get the right thing, lol.
And, ironically, I can't get the crash to happen today, although yesterday it happened with every single corpse, and reproducing it was not a problem, lol.
Thank you Gouru!

Coincidentally, I just tried re-installing Findit! again and now I don't have the issue. Go figure.
If it happens again I'll try and get a log before I reinstall.
I'm going to uninstall LT anyways now. I don't even use it now that I'm on Vissadel.

I've had this happen from time to time. Shutting down AC and Decal fixes it for me. It seemed to happen whenever I hit the hot key combo I set for salvaging, but not all the time.
