Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Out of memory errors

Since I can't post on the decaldev forums (my ID was decactivated or something, and I can't register because it keeps saying that the confirmation code is invalid), I'll ask here. A while back I posted a message about getting an "Out of Memory" error whenever I left my clients on for an extended amount of time. I did quite a bit of research with disabling plugins, and even went so far as to reload a system from scratch including DirectX 9.0c and all updates from MS. Then I installed just the basic decal and acdc.. logged in and left the system at that point over night. When I came home from work the next day, it had gotten the Out of Memory error, and shut down. I was only at the charecter selection screen, not actually in world. Someone on the other thread stated that there was a huge memory leak in the decal client.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Is it a patch that Microsoft issued that broke it? I used to be able to leave my charecters in game for a week, and not have any problems. This has only been happening for 4 or 5 months. I would really like to get at least two stable machines, so I can run my bots un-interrupted. Nothing ticks me off more than coming home and finding out that I have someone's item from my tinker bot, because the client errored out, or I get several @tells asking why my bot logged off in mid buff. I know that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.

There is a memory leak caused by Decal. It has to be found and fixed by Decal development. There is no other solution.
It is very likely that a Microsoft recent update detects the defective operation of Decal quicker these days. Then kills AC to protect the PC. Memory leaks are bad for the overall operation of PC by slowing the PC down. Memory hogs can also cause other apps to crash because they are being a piggy. You can not blame Microsoft for enhancing its operating system.

No, but I can stop my pc, that I use only for botting, from updating the OS, to help AC and Decal to run longer.
