Question for Melees using a Buff program...
|
Okay, given that melees buff skills are usually so pitiful that they have to 'gear up' in order to cast any worthwhile spells, I'm adding the ability to equip items prior to a buff to help them them get the skill they need.
But a question comes to mind on Baneing...
Should Cast It! re-equip the basic armor and cast the banes on the character, or should it take the extra time and buff each piece individually without having it wielded.
I suppose I could make it user configurable, but if an overwhelming majority wants it one way or the other, I won't bother spending the extra time.

My family just casts items spells on my equiped armor by selecting the character.

Personally, I would prefer to bane the armor I'm wearing rather than each piece individually. For low level melees I tend to have someone else buff me since at low levels I have not invested the points to do much self-buffing anyway.

Yeah for the low level characters, I just pass all the armor and clothing to a higher level character, equip it and buff it.

Same here, Bane what's equipped.
Now it's a different story when you get to weapons. But that wasn't the question so I'll stop there

Weapons are handled in the new Cast It!
Looking more and more like bane self is the way to go.

Most of our melees with marginal skills get the 3school buffs from the bot then take off buffing themselves. Put in a pause button instead to allow the user to pause the program, re-equip regular hunting armour, then continue banes?

Question for Melees using a Buff program...
|
I have a variety of melees, and I will not use buff bots. On those characters, I do several things to make my buffing easier:
First, I use my "buffing" helper items on jewelry, not armor or clothing, which keeps me from dealing with the baning issue of having to equip something to buff, but then bane individual items.
Second, I don't try to cast above my ability. If I can't do 7s reliably, I'm not going to force it, so a program that would default to 5s, or 6s, is always nice.
I would say that self banes are definitely the way to go with any buffing program, but add in the ability to use lower level spells, for those who don't use bots, or a secondary character to buff them with 7s.
But, knowing Gouru, I'm sure whatever he comes up with will be great

QFT
I don't bother "self buffing" (and that includes banes) until my skills are in the 320 range. Until such time, I am a "Buff Bot Baby". There are way too many buff bots out there with 2 hour buffs who also do banes, for me to mess with that stuff.

Okay, Cast It! equipping for buffing will ONLY equip jewelry items so that the armor gets baned properly.
After equipping, it will 'ladder' up the best level spell that will cast with the reliability (fizzle rate) the user determines, then buff at that level.
That will also simplify re-equipping after the buff is done.
What it will NOT do: Change equipped items in the middle of a buff cycle (i.e. won't swap out a critter mastery for a life mastery during the buff)

Instead of equipping an item to help with magic skills wouldn't it be easier to just cast lower level prebuff spells on yourself first, other buff plugins have been able to do that.

What part of "After equipping, it will 'ladder' up the best level spell" are you having an issue with
Yes, lower level spells are good but if the highest low level spell you can cast is a lvl 4, yet you can equip a lvl 6 mastery item, guess which is better.
