Subject: Creating Deady Barbed Arrowheads with Make It!
The recipe list from Make It! does not contain recipes for the Barbed arrowheads. Since somebody asked me how to do it, it sounded like a good reason for a quick tutorial on adding recipes.

What you will need:
2 Wrapped Bundle of Arrowheads (Buy)
2 Bloodseeker Oil Pea (Make...Make It! knows how)
1 Bloodhunter Oil Pea (Make...Make It! knows how)
Barbed Fletching Tool (Get from quest)

Steps:
The first step is to let Make It! know that the Barbed Fletching Tool is a crafting tool. This only needs to be done one time.

Open Make It! and go to the recipes tab. In your pack, select the Barbed Fletching Tool. In the Make It! window, click on "Add selected as tool". You're done.

Next step is to add the recipes for any sub-ingredients needed. Make It! as delivered does not have recipes for Wrapped Greater heads or Wrapped Deadly heads, which are needed to make Wrapped Greater/Deadly Barbed heads, so we'll add those recipes.

On the recipes tab top pulldown, select 'Arrowheads' because that is the category we want to put these recipes. (If you do these a lot, you might want to choose the 'common' category instead)

Click on the Bloodseeker Oil in your pack, and press the Make It! 'use' button, the display next to it will change to "Bloodseeker Oil"

Click on the wrapped arrowheads in your pack. Click the 'On' button in Make It!. Display next to it changes to 'Wrapped Bundle of Arrowheads'.

Press the 'Test' button. If everything is set right, your toon will make a bundle of Greater Arrowheads. Next to the test button and the display button will be displayed the 'official' name of the item you just created. If you wish, edit the Display name (I changed it to 'Wrapped Greater Heads".

Press the 'Add Recipe to XML' button, and you are done. This item will now appear in the Category list on the Main tab, and you can use Make It! to make as many as you want.

Now click on the 'Barbed Fletching Tool', and press 'Use'. Click on the Wrapped Greater Arrowheads and press 'On'. Press Test. You will make a Wrapped Bundle of Greater Barbed Arrowheads. Edit the display name as you wish, and press 'Add Recipe to XML'.

For deadlies, make a 'Wrapped Bundle of Greater Arrowheads' (you can use the recipe we created earlier.

Now, click on the Bloodhunter oil, press Use. Click on the Wrapped Bundle of Greater Arrowheads', press 'On'. Press 'Test', edit the display name and press 'Save to XML File'.

Adding the recipe for Barbed Deadly heads is left as an exercise for the student.

Adding these items was a little more difficult, because first, you had to tell Make It! about the Barbed tool. Second, you needed to add recipes for the 'components' used in make Barbed Deadlies. As long as we were adding Deadly barbed heads, we took a little extra time to add Greater Barbed heads as well.

In summary, once you have the components, simply a) select the category you want the recipe stored in, b) select the first item, press 'use', c) select the second item press 'on', press 'test', d) Edit the display name if desired and e) press the Add to XML file button.

You need to do this also for any components that Make It! does not already know how to make.

Questions?

P.S. If you want to know the recipe used by Make It! for any items already being made, you can select the category and item from the top two dropdowns, then press the 'Display' button. The fields will then display the display name, Use item, On item, and 'official' name of that item.

Although in the steps above you could have entered the recipe without actualy having the components or making the item, by manually entering the name of each item being used, on and final item name, I strongly recommend that you do NOT do so. Simple mispellings or misunderstandings will cause the recipe to fail. You are MUCH better off buying, making or finding the components first, then selecting the needed item from your pack, pressing the appropriate button and letting Make It! fill in the details.

Fine with me.

Just don't ask me how to add recipes in the future.

/e raises her hand as the party who asked for the recipe

Thanks so much Gouru for the quick response when I asked, AND for posting this. I've not been on the boards much this past week to have seen this earlier happy Make It! created 300 wrapped bundles of these little guys for me, and my archers are again happy. I like to use the Greater Barbed arrowheads for beginning archers - they're less pricey to make than others, and work quite nicely for the majority of things young archers hunt. I forgot to add that section, will go back and do that when I get ingame today.
