Decal or one of the plugins is making an illegal DPC Routine call which is causing my system to crash. I am not able to isolate whether or not it is decal or one of the pluggins because Event Viewer will only log the first error and usally this causes my system to lock up and die.

It is frustrating because this is an isolated error but on some occasions happens more frequently than others.

Here is a microsoft article that may help.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

ummm.. I don't think Decal nor Plugins have the ability to make that kind of error. That is a hardware/driver type error.

I'd first attempt to locate the exact driver having issues, and update it. Then I'd double check the hardware. It's very rare for software to cause those kinds of errors other than Device Drivers.

Drakier,

All my drivers are updated and I only get the error message when running decal. I think one of the plugins is making a call to get information on the video card which is causing the system to crash. I also have been monitoring temperature levels on my video card and it is running well below the threshold at 41-42C.

Ironically it doesn't matter whether I am running graphics on the highest or even lowest setting I will still have random crashes in certain dungeons.

Any ideas on how I could isolate this issue? I was having the same issue with my 9600XT Radeon as with the new 6200 Nvidia. I tried switching video cards so I am not thinking this is the issue. In fact the Nvidia seems to be running more stable than the ATI and definitely a lot cooler.

I'm just saying.. it's really hard to get software like Decal to cause that kind of error without either corrupt drivers, or something in the OS being corrupt. Maybe an export would help, but I don't think so. Windows does a pretty good job at separation between the layers, and those types of errors are rarely caused by consumer software these days. ABout the only things that cause them I've already meantioned. Hardware, driver software, or OS software (any being faulty or corrupt).
