acclient download works.. but I don't think servers are up (last I checked)

(which would also be why they are still currently untested)

The memlocs are broken. My UCM could not detect the ninjas and was killed.....err I mean, I was staring at my screen and my usual backup to keep me alive did not alert me to the ninja's presence and....errr...nevermind.

the memlocs are there..

make sure you don't have a firewall or anti-virus program blocking the download. Chances are, you aren't getting a cached copy. What's most likely happening is the download is failing thus resulting in the memlocs and other XML files not getting overwritten and looking like it is grabbing the same files when in fact it isn't.

I've checked, double checked, and re-checked the memlocs and the update file, and it's all fine. If you cannot download them, it is either something with your ISP and a cached copy, your network, or some software on your PC blocking the download.

Same thing here. With Anti virus on or off(no firewall) it does the update. Says it is writing the files but does not actually update the memlocs. *shrugs* not sure hehe. I'm fairly new at this...is there any other info I can provide that may help? Thx!

try deleting (or backing up) your xml files.. see if it downloads new ones

if so, check the contents of the updatelist.xml and see what version the XML files are in it (in the filename)

after you deleted the XML files, and clicked Update..

are there any NEW XML files now?

if not, then it is because you're not actually downloading them.

I don't think we're understanding eachother.

you have the correct update url.

go to the Decal 3.0 directory (usually in C:\Program Files\) and delete all files that and in .XML

hit F5 to refresh, but you should have NO XML files in there.

Click Update. See if it recreates any of the XML files.

If you HAVE XML files and they are old, then you have some sort of wierd caching issue where it's using the wrong Updatelist.xml (which can be seen by opening up the updatelist.xml and reading it).

If you do NOT have XML files, then you're not able to contact the update server through Decal and download the files properly (as specified above).

Find out which category you fit into.

I think i have the weird caching issue.I deleted them again the way you dscribed and double checked by refreshing.

Then i downloaded them again.

Here is the readout from the updatlist.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <updatelist version="1.0.0.0" generator="OVERDUE">
<file type="xml" localname="decalplugins.xml" remotename="http://decal.acdev.org/files/decalplugins.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="clientpatches.xml" remotename="http://decal.acdev.org/overdue/clientpatches.php" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="memlocs.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/memlocs.2771.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="messages.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/messages.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="killbit.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/killbit.2771.xml" version="" />
</updatelist>

seems I have a caching problem as well. I tried deleting all xml files and re-updating. The result was this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <updatelist version="1.0.0.0" generator="OVERDUE">
<file type="xml" localname="decalplugins.xml" remotename="http://decal.acdev.org/files/decalplugins.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="clientpatches.xml" remotename="http://decal.acdev.org/overdue/clientpatches.php" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="memlocs.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/memlocs.2771.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="messages.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/messages.xml" version="" />
<file type="xml" localname="killbit.xml" remotename="http://update.decaldev.com/killbit.2771.xml" version="" />
</updatelist>

Currently, if the XML I linked to is the same as the one you're getting (and incorrect) then you're getting cached versions and I don't know exactly how I can help you force a refresh since I don't know where the issue exactly would be (either on your machine or with your ISP).

Unfortunately, those are NOT the files currently on the server so there isn't a whole lot I can do to assist you.

Have you tried rebooting your computer and trying again? maybe clear your IE cache and see if it helps?

My guess would be that your ISP uses webpage caching to speed up some of it's traffic.

This is unfortunate, but sometimes necessary.

Best thing to do in these cases is to let the cache expire by not attempting to download the file over and over again. If it doesn't work the first time, give it a while and try again. Also you might want to consider asking your ISP to not cache webcontent. Not that it will make a difference however.

Shriva: go through the same process as Whiskyjack and provide the same information. Notice we determined pretty much exactly what his issue was through troubleshooting. Go through the same steps and look at the results as I've specified. Saying "It doesn't work" is not in the least bit helpful to figuring out what you problem is.

If you're deleting the files, doing a refresh to make sure they're gone, and then doing an update and getting NEW files which are still not the correct files, then something somewhere between you and the Decal Server is caching that content. The content on the Decal Server is correct. It's been verified countless times, and many many people are using it successfully. That puts the onus on either your ISP, or your personal network/PC.

ok, just noticed one thing. When I start up decal it says client vers does not match XML version(of course)

it says MY version is 0.0.11.2771 and the Client Vers is 0.0.11.2784

OK, so when when it asks Would you like to update I click yes and it starts....it then goes and I can see the file it is downloading is MY old XML version of 0.0.11.2771 and not the needed vers of 0.0.11.2784 Hrm, for some reason my updater is only finding 0.0.11.2771

*shrugs* I'll keep trying hehe.

Try this. Save the files in the Decal folder, overwriting the files that are already there. Include the quotes in the names when saving.

Right-click http://decal.acdev.org/files/decalplugins.xml and save as "decalplugins.xml"
Right-click http://decal.acdev.org/overdue/clientpatches.php and save as "clientpatches.xml"
Right-click http://update.decaldev.com/memlocs.2784.xml and save as "memlocs.xml"
Right-click http://update.decaldev.com/messages.xml and save as "messages.xml"
Right-click http://update.decaldev.com/killbit.2784.xml and save as "killbit.xml"

Note: this is normally on http://skunkworks.sourceforge.net/misc/updatelist.php , but GKusnick hasn't updated the page for the current memlocs version yet.

Pyreal:

that means that your ACClient.exe isn't updated..

your XML files are fine. Your ACClient.exe isn't.

make sure it isn't read only and make sure you've logged into AC and updated at LEAST once without Decal.

If you run Dual Client, then make sure you copy the updated ACClient.exe to the other paths as well.

Error messages are important, and this one tells you exactly what the problem is. (Basically saying the XML is more recent than your client which means your client needs updating).

Edit:

Or does it? please post the EXACT error message by pressing CTRL+C on the error message window, then clicking in here and pressing CTRL+V to paste. I'm not sure WHICH error you're getting after reading it a couple of times.

The client version does not match the XML version, this may cause some plugins to malfunction.

(xmldoc=D:\Program Files\Decal 3.0\memlocs.xml client version=0.0.11.2784 xml version=0.0.11.2771)

Updating your XML files will correct this problem. Would you like to update now?
---------------------------
Yes No
---------------------------

and then it proceeds to download the 0.0.11.2771 version again. So it looks like my ACClient vers is fine...the XML version is outdated. Hrm, gonna try something
