I have checked numerous times. With Decal I run anywhere between 50% and 90% packet loss. If I turn it off, it drops to 0.00%. I tried enabling 1 plugin at a time, but any of them cause the lag. Even the Decal bar alone causes it. Any ideas?

Make sure you have a backup of the installer of old drivers before installing new ones. Some of the newer drivers screw up the graphics in some games with older cards (textures becoming transparent and some other very strange effects).

I think it is an display bug , atleast for me it is.
Right after i check the pl , it shows some really huge number like 80% +.
After a while it goes down to normal values between 0 and 1.55 or so.

With 88% pl , you wouldn't be aible to play at all.

No it really is that high. If i turn off all plugins it is still that high.

It seems darkside filter might be the culprit. I turned it off and it seems that might have helped, I will keep you informed.

with 88% PL you Baicly can't do anything at all , about 9 out of 10 times when you press a key , nothing would happen.

Lets just put it this way, I really lag like that. Its not continuously at 88%, but more like 50-70%. But I yellow link contiuously. I don't know that it is just decal, because I live in a 4 man living community and we share internet resources (not through one router). While some days it is worse than others, it goes away when I turn decal off.

Well I have tried everything from using different plugins, trying different combinations of plugins, trying different combinations of filters, etc.

I still have +70-80% lag continuously. When I turn decal off, it goes to practically nothing

I am running a 2.6 GHz Computer with 512 Ram, Gforce 5200

I have no answers, but It has almost become impossible to play w/o decal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And yes... I really do lag that bad, takes me 5-10 seconds to switch from Wand to Weapon/shield.

With decal off, its like I am playing Pre-Decal Days.

Just so you know....if you are having greater than 1% packet loss it WILL display as x.xx% or xx.xx%.....if it's showing 50% or 80% with NO decimal and no numbers after a decimal it is NOT 50% or 80%...it's POINT 50% or POINT 80% (.50% or .80%)

It's a bug with AC's packet loss display ..... if you only show 2 numbers there is a missing . before the 2 digits.

AC is designed to operate with packet loss. IIRC there is a packet sequence system that resends lost packets. UDP is most likely used because those packets don't necessarily have to arrive in-order, but I'm not sure about that.

In many cases, the packets aren't resent (in some cases it is).

UDP was used because it has a lot less overhead in terms of "connection". with the added side-effect that if a packet gets lost, it has to decide what to do about it.

In the case of a "creature or player movement" packet, there really isn't a whole lot of need to resend them, and if it did resend them out of order, then you'd end up with people and creatures jumping all over the place when you drop a packet. However... CreateItem needs to be resent otherwise you may never receive that quest reward that you were supposed to.

I started noticing that on top of my "Lag" problems that I was having some fractal problems with AC while playing, and that occasionly my computer screen went black for 1 second, or that my web page would "lock" up for 1 second so last night I did some Diagnostics on my ram.

Last night after creating a Bootdisk on a CD rom (considerably more a pain in the a$$) if you don't already have an ISO creator, I was able to make a boot disk of Microsoft Windiag.

Windiag is a Ram Tester which scans memory from boot over and over, identifying bad ram.

Turns out one of my 256 mb sticks had a bad LRAND and something else. I don't exactly understand the details except that it kept failing. I took out one stick and the other passed continuously, I took out the good one and put the bad one in, and while the computer worked, it failed continuously.

So today I bought a brand new stick of 1 Gig of Ram and Yay, it worked with my 256mb stick. (1.25 Gig)

Currently I am having 07% thats right its not a typo 07% Packet loss and my Ping is between 200-400 ms.

I may have found the culprit, but I will keep you informed.

Your packet loss is POINT 07% (.07%) The decimal is missing for anything under 1%, and anything over 1% has a decimal with 2 places after the decimal.
