The first problem is that you did not read this list of link=http://www.decaldev.com/Requirements/tabid/73/Default.aspx]requirements.[/link]

Install the missing components. Hint: Net 2.0

According to all my many installs and uninstalls net 2.0 is installed. When I read other exports I notice the only difference shows to be the inject default area; example
other persons export shows

[Protected Storage Service] : Automatic

Decal Settings
: Timer (Default)
[Portal Path] : C:\Program Files\Turbine\Asheron's Call - Throne of Destiny
[Launcher App] : ACDCClient.exe
: http://update.decaldev.com
[memlocs.xml] : 24464 bytes, Version 0.0.11.2771
[messages.xml] : 52677 bytes, Version 2006.05.18.3
[Video Memory] : 222720000

while mine shows:
Decal Settings
: Timer (Default)
[Portal Path] : C:\Program Files\Turbine\Asheron's Call - Throne of Destiny\
[Launcher App] : acclient.exe
: http://update.decaldev.com
[memlocs.xml] : 24464 bytes, Version 0.0.11.2771
[messages.xml] : 53271 bytes, Version 2006.08.22.1
[Video Memory] : 320227904

I am not sure why the injection shows on my clipboard and not on this site. As for requirments I have repeated the process so many times I can now un-install and reinstall in my sleep happy

Issue 1:

Plugins, 1, <No Name>, <No Version>, {39E9E0F5-85D7-4C38-87D6-3BBCB853357E}

whatever that is, it did not install properly. Remove it using the "remove" button in Decal.

As for the differences in the two exports you posted above, (neither of them have any reference to the injection methods, not sure why you refer to that) the only difference in the two is the first one shows a different messages.xml version. That was the initial post-patch release, there was another release of refined messages.xml following that, which is the 08.22.1 version.

You say you are having "problems" but you fail to give any details. Are you getting error messages? Is Decal loading at all in game? Are you able to log into the game at all? You should provide some information as to what is going on so others can further troubleshoot your issues.

I removed the item you mentioned which was linked to El Tank.
I do appreciate the help so forgive me if I am misunderstanding the difference between net 2.0 beta and 2.0 final as you stated. I was under the impression we were to have the final net 2.0 and needed to uninstall the beta version 2.0 which is what I did.
for example:

---Support Libraries ---
Note: The following libraries are not necessary for Decal to function and are only provided to be of use to plugin developers.

.NET Frameworks

[v2.0.50215] (2.0 Beta 2) : Not Installed

[v2.0.50727] (2.0 Final) : Installed

With decal everything loads and updates fine, decal shows it is running (next to the time), however, when I start the log in session to AC my screen goes blank and boots me back to the window I started from, instead of getting the connection page with the blue connection status.
I can connect to ac without decal running.
With the last uninstal I was getting a render error.
Other than that I have never been able to get Decal working.

I do not think you need to have .NET Beta installed, but I don't know, as most of the exports I've seen have it installed. I initially read your export as not having the final, but quickly corrected that, you do have .NET Final so you *should* be fine.

Are you using Drakier's Dual Client to log in? Are you using any other sort of AC Launcher, or are you doing the login process manually?

Hopefully someone else can help, I really have no idea why your game would simply close, without even reaching the Vials Screen, I've not really read of anyone having that happen.

try installing .net 1.1 too. I believe that you need to have both 1.1 and 2.0 installed.

You should not need the 2.0 Beta - unless you are using a plugin that relies on something that was in Beta, but didnt make it into final (or was changed), which I doubt happened at all. I dont have the Beta installed and decal works just fine.
I am not sure about the 1.1, but I think most have that installed too - I do at least.

I have tried logging in several different ways but mainly use acqlaunch. However,it does not matter how I log in because it reacts the same way with each.
Someone mentioned I needed to change something in memlocs, but I am unable to view that also. It gives me:

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Program Files/Decal 3.0/memlocs.xml'.

I will try and load the net 1.0 to see if it makes a difference.
Thanks for the help. M

You should never, ever be changing anything in the memlocs or messages files. Those are obtained from the Decal site, and if you changed something you could jack it up completely. Whoever told you that may have been thinking of something else. (I believe those files are encoded so you cannot mess with them, and that is why you receive that error.) If you get errors regarding those files, delete them from the Decal folder and re-download them using the "Update" button.

It didn't occur to me, but yes, it very well may be that you must have .NET 1.0. Since every single export I've ever seen has it, I didn't even think to look there, but hopefully that will fix your issues.

ok my problem just started this early AM. I was in game playing and my client completely closed without the error message that AC Client has encountered and error and needs to close. My game just closed completely out. When I tried to get back in game I began having AC client crashes. I was able to log back in without decal. I could not enter game with all my plug in unselected and just trying the decal bar. I installed and reinstalled it worked for the rest the day. But now I am back to steady to AC Client errors upon attempts to log on at all with decal.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I am also stuck with a newer version of Direct X that Best Buy installed and I can not remember what small fix someone gave me before to work around this. I forgot to say that yes I am running in window mode. But I just tried it full screen with the same results. I went and got a new copy of decal and reinstalled it, still can not enter game running just the decal bar.

nevermind, I was able to get in game just fine now with everything but AC Tool. I will have to go look up to see if anything changed on that as it was working fine up until this morning.

Sui, not sure if you're the original poster or not... I'll assume you're not, and you're having a completely separate issue.

How much RAM do you have? You're running a ton of very high demand plug-ins.

[msxml4.dll] : Installed (4.10.9404.0)

Try updating your msxml4 to the latest version.

That's all I can offer based on your export. I don't run 90% of those plug-ins you seem to have installed, and didn't even think some of those worked with the current build of Decal, so *shrug*

Subject: Problems with decal
Just wanted to let you know that I finally was able to get Decal working! What I did was this:

went to control. add and remove, then removed decal and all plugins.
I then searched windows using find files and deleted all files that had decal.
I then went to regedit (start, run, regedit)under edit went to find and typed Decal. When it brought up each decal link i deleted it. It took me 2 hours there were that many links.
when there were no more links for decal I rebooted my computer and downloaded the new decal.
I must say that I was very surprised to see it was working when I logged on!
I just hope it doesnt take as long to learn to use it.!
Thanks to everyone for your time and help.
