Gotta stop letting Mithan name forums. tongue This should be the Handyman, Home and Garden Forum!

I'm no expert, but I've done a bit of everything: Carpentry, woodworking, electrical, plumbing, glazing (some bits are smaller than others). One of these days, I'll retire and become a full-time home handyman/golfer. grin

My wife has finally accepted the fact that every little job needs its own special tool(s), so slowly but surely, my workshop is growing.

Of course, my neighbor has me beat: A few years ago he built an extension on his garage for a full-size workshop, complete with ShopSmith. [face_envy]

Oh you would love my dads workshop. When he stopped smoking over 30 years ago my mom told him he could buy tools instead ...that was his reward lol.

My dad use to do tons of woodwork, build stuff, fixed everything around the house and my house. He has huntingtons disease now i take care of him..he gave me all his stuff shock I now have the job of building stuff and helping my mom with all these boy scout wood projects. I have fixed sinks, toilets, built flower boxes, bird house, sanded, fixed part of the roof and the list goes on lol.

I have 2 older brothers which never learn all this stuff..he wanted his daughter to take care of herself ..i was changing oil in a car in 5th grade lol. I will be moving to Ottawa in Jan and i cant take it all with me cry .

I am taking his drill.. older one with TONS of power, not like the wimpy ones or the cordless ones. I will miss the jigsaw and the sanders and the drill press hehehehe!!! My BF said he would get news ones after we are married grin We have a house in Ottawa that needs a tiny bit of fixing..cant wait.

I'm handier than my hubby is, but not as handy as I'd like to be yet! I've taken down wallpaper and painted, fixed minor holes in walls, replaced doorknobs, put in a new light fixture all by myself (I was VERY proud of that!), unclogged sinks, that sort of thing. Haven't really done anything much more difficult...yet. But I do have plans, mwahahahaha.

Blackwuf and I are both handy and have done major remodeling projects in our home. I even have my own set of tools and toolbelt. We finished our unfinished basement and added two bedrooms (okay, one's a computer room), a family room, bath and library/game room.

Hubby lucked out when he married me because I buy him top of the line (mostly DeWalt) tools and we most recently had a 35' by 35' foot workshop added to our back yard. I wouldn't let him put a bathroom out in the workshop for fear we'd never see him again!

Im a big time home contractor, able to build rooms add doorways, put up ceilings/walls/insulations. Im also a fairly good self-taught electrician. Of course also with college i've become pretty damn good I must say myself at designing blueprints for houses (though I specicialize in industrial equipment in Autocad (im an Industrial Engineer major))

Hubby and I are both handy. Unfortunately, we have no room for a workspace in our condo. They just don't have 'em in our complex, so anything we *might* have in the way of tools is out in a little shed, that just isn't big enough.

*Sighs*

If/when we build our own house, I want a professional kitchen AND a workroom tongue

My stepdad was a Landlord so growing up I learned everything from painting to replacing hotwater heaters. He would buy old houses we would remodel them and then he would rent them out. I am fairly confident on doing just about any home repairs on my own, but I will admit electrical stuff makes me a bit nervous. Oh and I absolutely HATE mudding, taping, and sanding Sheetrock.

That's one job I've never done, and have zero desire to do. I'm more into repairs than construction. wink

Just some advice about sheetrocking that we've learned over the years. Before beginning your project, seriously think about renting one of these: Drywall Lift Linky

They will save you HOURS of work and wear and tear on your arms, back, friends, etc. happy

I love doing handyman type stuff, although I'm not allowed to do much.

See, most people have a sense of where their limbs are in relation to their bodies. I absolutely do not. So I regularly walk into walls, cabinet doors, countertops, etc. Klutz doesn't even begin to describe me - I accidentally kicked a canvas bag full of yarn once, and somehow broke three toes. I was on crutches for several weeks.

I waaaaant a workshop, but my husband says absolutely not. If I got my hands on anything like that, he's sure I'd cut off a hand or something. And he's probably right. *sigh*

So I stick with the painting and stuff like that, but anything that involves sharp instruments is denied me! sad (
