I think the all X's problem is if you don't get the new client first, though I could be wrong.
I just updated decal and got them, ( the X's ), restarted Decal and got a msg about the client being out of date.
So im going to dl the new AC client, log fully into the world, and then log back out and restart decal, as I would normally.
.......................................................loading.........................
Yep, that worked.
1) Log into ac, and let it be updated.
2) Log out, closing AC.
3) Start Decal and hit update.
4) Log in to AC again and enjoy.

I did it that way first, but tried over and over running ac without decal, then exiting, starting decal, update, still red x's and still reporting old memlocs and messages.
I've uninstalled decal, done registry wipe and started from scratch...scratching head now.

Striderlongshanks: They did say what they did... check the post right above that one.
they followed what all the other posts said.. and eventually it worked... most likely downloading the latest acclient.exe by logging into the game... which is what I said afterward.

A window popped up and this showed up after i hit update...

That is exactly what appeared with caps and spaces...
I even deleted it off my computer and reinstalled decal..etc..and did what was said to do above...

After repatching ac and trying update decal, still no joy, seems to d/l the old files still from server.
Added the updated xml,s that i was sent, still same red crosses. when i check the updatelist xml thingy, it even lists the old versions.

Yep same here, i believe the addie is down somehow, even though it updates on the decal 1 through 5 it is still showing the 2471 file, how can i get a hold of the new memlocs for the patch ?.
Is there a mirror site you can post , i am based in the UK so would appreciate help regarding attaining the memlocs , Thanks a lot  .

OK, now I have completely uninstalled AC and Decal and Tank and reinstalled everything, updating everything. The decal update happens but the old memlocs remain. I am completely baffled as I have tried everything everyone else has done and still it doesnt work. If there is anything at all that I am forgetting to do could somebody please tell me...

Ok I did the command prompt thing first as ping update.decaldev.com (with a space between ping and update) and I got this:

(there was an option to ignore)
Then there was nothing.
The second time I did it, I did not put a space between ping and update and this is what I got:
pingupdate.decaldev.com is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file
I truly do not understand all this LOL I just want my decal back

Sassy, that may be an unrelated problem, but see if this fixes it:
Go to c:\windows\system32, and drag the file "ntvdm.exe" to the recycle bin. It will be recreated automatically within a few seconds (it'll be at the bottom of the list of files). If it doesn't reappear, then restore it from the recycle bin.

I would suggest running a Virus scan on your system..
also I would suggest doing a search for the following files on your system.. and if any are found, go to http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.picrate.a@mm.html and follow the removal instructions.

OK I ran a virus check and nothing was found. I cleaned my registry and ran ad-aware. After all that I tried updating decal again and nothing I tried the command prompt thing again and got the same message. I am at my wits end with this LOL. Oh and I did put that NVDM.EXE file in the recycle bin and it did not reappear by itself so I restored it. I did a search for all of those files and found none of them. After all of this if you have anymore ideas I would appreciate it. Now I'm going to bed LOL.

YAY! Got decal back! Had to do a format and completely redo it all but I got it back, needless to say there was obviously a hidden virus somewhere but now all is well.

glad ya got it working.. if you don't have a good virus scan software, I'd highly recommend getting one. I don't have any recommendations as much of choosing a program is personal taste... but try to get one that is a large name and has constant updates to keep you fully protected.. Norton, Mcafee, etc.. I'm sure some other people could provide more as well if needed (possibly even free as the others cost some $$)

The funny thing is, I use AGV virus protection which updates every morning so I don't know how the virus hid so well, but anyways, you gotta do what you gotta do for decal!

Not every virus scanner catches every virus. There's some AVG will miss as well as Norton, McAfee, Panda, etc, etc. It's best to use a combination of AV's as well as other programs like the ones listed above (SpyBot, AdAware, etc).
