Subject: Autologin program?
With Turbines servers booting people off left and right, coupled with Decals crashing to the desktop problem, has anyone come up with an external program that will detect if AC has stopped running (ie you have crashed to desktop) and then make sure Decal is loaded then log back in to AC and then enter the world of your choice with the character that was last loaded and then delay and start one of the various bot programs?

There used to be a utility in the Decal 2 days, but hadn't seen one for Decal 3.

ACTool 4T(he)W(in)!

Decal does not work outside of AC, and plugins don't do anything there. There used to be a "Crash Helper" for CastAway bot, ELBuffBot, and Insane Bot. I don't know how they worked, but it shows it could be done for buff bots that already exist in Decal 3 again.

What I'd suggest for now though, since it can be done more easily is use ACTool. It doesn't require AC, Decal, or anything else. If you want to use it in AC I'm sure you'd want copies of both Decal and AC however. You'll need to get the version 5.4.0 install from the main site. Then go to the forum and get the ZIP file for Beta, I think I'm using 5.4.0.64 at the moment. Once you install 540, then open the 540 beta zip file and copy every file in it to your ACTool folder (located at C:\Program Files\AC Tool.

With ACTool installed that far, you can use it for what you need perfectly fine, but the Decal plugin that ACTool uses for Asheron's Call specific information wont work. That requires you to do one more step, where you edit your registry.

And I am not responsible to fix it, heh.

Here's what you have to do:

1. Shut down Decal.

2. Click on the start menu (in the lower left of your desktop).

3. Click on the "Run" command icon in the right side of the menu.

4. In the box that opens, type "regedit" without the quotes.

5. You may see a lot of wierd named folders. You want to get here:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Decal\Plugins
Each one of those is a sepperate folder inside the one before it.

6. There should be a wierdly named folder inside the Plugins folder for every plugin you have. Click on the first one:
Example: {12132875-071f-4800-86c1-142f128dbe48}

7. On the right side of the screen you should see some information about that specific plugin:
Name | Type | Data
(Default) | REG_SZ | Plugin Name

Repeat steps 6 and 7 until you find:
(Default) | REG_SZ | AC Tool Companion

--- IF YOU MESS UP THIS NEXT STEP YOU MAY BE SORRY:
--- IF YOU MESS UP THIS NEXT STEP YOU MAY BE SORRY:

8. Below this line will be a few others including Enabled, File, Order, Uninstall, and Surrogate. Click on the line that says "Surrogate", BELOW WHERE IT SAYS (Default) | REG_SZ | AC Tool Companion on the RIGHT side of the screen. Right click and delete.

Close the RegEdit program and start decal. You should now see AC Tool Companion listed there, THE DIFFERENCE IS this time there's no RED check mark next to it's name. You should now be able to use every aspect of ACTool. This is also a good walkthrough for finding the "Order" value of a plugin that determines the visible order of your plugins in decal.

heh Sui, fellow AC Tool fan here.

What Sui is describing in detail can also be summed up as: Install AC Tool, go to the registry entry for it, and delete the Surrogate key.

------

Yep, you can write an effective script to log you in after a crash using AC Tool. Great for keeping a tradebot or buffbot logged in. I have a couple Arch, PM me and I can fine tune one for you. I keep my login info on a floppy, so that I don't have that data written into a macro script. A little more secure.

Hah,
Don't mind me Chaz, just not in the mood these days to watch some noob (not Arch) read this thread and give it a whirl. Watch em frack it all up and be pissed, lol.

We keep a login script for each computer too. I still use ACTool for a lot of functionality in AC and even more with other programs happy

Yeah, someone had written BotHelper for ACTrade back in the day and stopped supporting it. I took it and fixed it for the new Turbine launcher and had support to restart trade and buff bots. It worked fairly well, but it wasn't foolproof. All it really did was look for AC, and if the window didn't exist, it restarted it. Didn't work 100% because crashes often held up a "Send" or "Don't send" error to Microsoft which kept the ac window there, but not working.

But, since ToD and the new Decal I haven't updated it. I've been concentrating more on LifeTank... and if I did revive it, I would want to do it the right way and make it more reliable.
