deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least

We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.

Hey guys okay lets pretent you are talking to someone who is stupid about decal ...oh wait no pretending needed LOL...
I have been trying and trying to get decal working on my three puters now and cant seem to do so....I delete all programs and decal I reinstall them all I put those two little files in the hosts place and I do the Run that I was told to and still I crash to desktop with the ac client failed and needs to restart thingy when I try to get into game...
Now what? Am I just stupid or totally lost or is there a good reason I am crashing lol if you can help me out then please do so I really really want my decal back cause I have a bunch of newbs unders me and it would be great to be able to buff them all without the manual hit the button over and over method

I don't see anything wrong with your setup at first glance.
I don't know what to tell you on why it's crashing..
Maybe try disabling all plugins and filters and see if the crashes still happen.. if not, start enabling the filters one at a time until it crashes. If it still doesn't crash with all the filters enabled, start enabling plugins. Eventually you should get a crash, and whatever the last thing that you enabled before the crash was, is most likley the candidate for the problem.

At what point is it crashing? Every time you log in, when you log out, when you click on anything in decal, or before you even get to the character selection screen?
Also, what 'two little files' did you put in the hosts? ElTank does use the network, if you've done something wrong to your hosts file, it might be causing problems there.

Oooooh... I didn't understand that part when I first read it..
glad someone else did.
Why did you change the HOSTS entry to begin with?
That was only a temporary fix while the server was down to allow people to log in. You shouldn't have those entries still in the HOSTS file. It could prevent Decal from authenticating and working properly.
Please remove those entries from the HOSTS file and see if you still have issues, and where those issues occur.

What run is that? You don't have to do the host file thing anymore and I would remove those entries. That was a temporary fix for an issue that no longer exists.

try disabling the filters and plugins.. then try to log in with Decal.
Nothing will work of course, but it should at least allow you to log in.
If you can log in successfully, then start enabling the filters one at a time and attempting to log in again until it crashes.
If it still doesn't crash after all filters are enabled, then repeat for the plugins.
Eventually it should crash. Report back what the last thing you enabled before crash was, then attempt to disable that thing again and see if you get no crash.. If so, then most likely that component is causing the problem.
