well from my viewpoint it's major.

I hunt with various levels of toons for salvage then when full return home and dump on the one toon that's been thru the 5 salvage quests.

guess what can't load the UST list except thru hunting/looting monsters. SAME MAJOR shortcoming FindIt! has.

I do not see this as a shortcoming by any means, on either plug in. For one thing, it keeps you from salvaging something accidentally that you may have in your pack, especially if you hit the hotkey for "salvage" accidentally. You can easily sidestep this issue simply by putting the items in a house chest, and then looting them with the character you wish to salvage them on. Both plug-ins will flag them upon opening the chest, and you can easily loot the items and THEN salvage only those items it flags.

Think about it, say you had a nice major (or many) on the salvaging char you dumped all your stuff on, and you hit the salvage key, if the plug-in hasn't flagged those looted items, then it is just going to salvage every single item on the char. NOT a good thing at all. It is unreasonable to expect the plug-in to know you're transferring loot to another character using the "Give" button (or by dragging items) and know to salvage only those items, and nothing else. Now, you may have your 5 Aug'd character completely empty and know it has nothing of value to salvage, but not everyone would or could do such a thing.

Both plug-ins are very careful to protect your items, and even then, occasionally you can still end up salvaging something that may have value to you, or others. (Due to a user error with setting proper rules, but the fact remains, the only way to be 100% sure is to salvage manually.)

Simple work-around is to simply use a house chest to transfer salvage. Even if it means you have to fill it up a couple times, it is worth the extra effort if you don't want to salvage manually.

Or use leather, or do it manually. tongue

Well, yeah I've always salvaged manually, I really have no problems with it, doesn't take long at all, and I personally just don't trust a plug-in to do it, no matter how many checks there are. If I make a mistake it is from my own doing, so that way nobody to blame but myself happy

And, while I leather every single thing I own , valuable or not, I know a whole bunch of people who don't use leather at all on anything, which makes me cringe lol. grin

when after an hours hunting you lug back 70 or 80 pieces of salvage INDIVIDUAL inserting each into and then removeing from a chest IS NOT a viable shortcut/workaround!

there needs to be a scan main pack for salvage type of button.

REMEMBER I am moving this from one toon to another and i've already sorted thru the stuff so I just need the stuff added to the UST Listing.

possibly via the trade window scan would be fine.

It is what I do every single day, and I see no problem with it. It takes at most a few minutes. I keep all my salvage in my chest and if it takes me logging in and out twice, big deal. *shrug*

An other workarround is to drop all items in a pack and let the other char loot it as it was
a corpse.

The scan mainpack for salvage is no problem and I did test with it already.
But people will use it on patchday when decal is halfdone and what if
it can't detect your imbued items, majors, etc anymore?

A bigger thing is that Alinco is verry inefficient when you salvage
that many items at one go as it assumes that you only get 1 unit per.

I need to make a proper function that can calculate or lookup how many units you
can get from salvage with imputs: salvage skill, workmanship and augmentation count.

But I have no time and no char available that is augmentated to figure that out
so it is on low prio for a while..

The largest shortcoming and the only reason I don't use this plugin is that you can't specify anything about armor other than majors. AFAIK, you can't specify workmanship (armor or weapons) or AL or type or anything like that. sad

This is hilarious

"when after an hours hunting you lug back 70 or 80 pieces of salvage INDIVIDUAL inserting each into and then removeing from a chest IS NOT a viable shortcut/workaround! "

You have enough patience to actually loot salvage items without salvaging them just so you can get a few (ok... maybe a bit more than a few if your hunting toon does not have any augs vs a toon with all 5), and yet you can't get yourself to do what Lingie suggested ?!?!?

Talk about closing the barn door after the horses have escaped!

Mind you, I've done this before, and just recently done it again when I was lvling my noob.. but gawd, I would never do something like this as a normal course of play. I did do this when doing specific loot run, but that was when salvage can be sold for good money... not 5 - 15 plats a bag (FF prices). I salute your, and Lingie's, patience lol.
