Subject: Allegiance Scanner 1.1 now available
Based on feedback, I added a few new commands and made some bugfixes to the allgiance scanner plugin. List of changes:

* Fixed autosave bug.
* Fixed bug on unknown characters in the tree.
* Fixed bug in tree loading.
* Added '@alls verbose' command to toggle on/off debug output. When disabled, the plugin can run in the background while you are playing as usual.
* Added '@alls waitlist' to show a list of character that are waiting to be scanned.
* Added '@alls skip' to skip a character that is waiting to be scanned.
* Added '@alls rescan' to add a character to the scanning queue. Great command for loading an existing tree and (re)scan only a part of the tree.
* Improved the chat output.
* Added an utility to examine the tree output. After installation, 'AllegianceViewer.exe' will be available in your installation directory.

Gawas, this sounds just fantastic, and the viewer is what I was waiting for, since I didn't know how to make use of the .xml file that the old one outputted. Hee hee.

alderonny: do you have an example that goes wrong? I have only a small allegiance tree to test with (10 chars or so), so there could be a situation that the parser doesn't keep into account.

If you know which character goes wrong, could you manually request its allegianc einfo and post it here please?

Ah, I see what's wrong. The plugin contains a list of rank names, to predict the rank and race of each character. Among the ranks, I had 'Naqib' and 'Naqiba', but seems that the correct spelling is 'Naquib' and 'Naquiba'. I'll add them to the plugin, you will be able to download an updated version of the plugin within a few minutes.

I think this is also why skipping didn't work Tika, I think you typed '@alls skip Naquiba Mrs Kenny'. Typing '@alls skip Mrs Kenny' should work though. If needed you can use the '@alls waitlist' command to show a list of people that are waiting.

Hmm do you have a more detailed error message perhaps? Also, do you have Decal installed (shouldn't be necessary for installation, but who knows) and what OS are you running?

it is trying to find info on a character not in my monarchy for some reason. and actually it says the toon doesnt exist. so i put in /alls skip The Gray Mouser and it says it will be skipped but it wont skip it? it just gets stuck on this character name and says no results after 31 seconds?

When you save the tree to disk, does this name appear anywhere in the file? You can open the save file with notepad to see its contents.

Also, after looking at your output I went over the code and found at least one more bug. It's not handling the 'character does not exist' message properly... and will therefore attempt over and over again. I'm building a new version (again hehe) and v1.3 should be available to download again soon.

I went over the code for skipping characters, but wasn't able to find any problem with it. Could you try the new version? Also, if you are having trouble with skipping characters, could you please use the waitlist command before and after issuing the skip command, to see the difference? After you used the skip command on a character, it should not appear in the waitlist. If it still does, that might indicate a bug.

Anyway, I'll test the new version a bit and then upload it. About the XSL request: I must admit that I haven't used XSLT at all so far, but I've been trying out some stuff and got some basic things working. I think I can get it added though, but it'll take some time to implement.

I think you meant to ask him to include an XSL file for formatting purposes within a browser. An XML file will displa in a borwser just fine, using a style sheet just makes it look prettier.

Just posted version 1.4, these is what changed:

* Fixed bug for 'Qadi' rank.
* Improved plugin timings, scanning should be a little faster (1 second per character).
* When the plugin is stopped, it won't parse incoming chat.
* A couple of tweaks, that should help to avoid problems when running side by side with other plugins or player commands.

That should fix the problems icedsport and tika are having.

Yes, you must load or start a new tree before starting the scanner. I added a check though, so you'll get a nicer error message. Will be available in the next version.

This plugin requires the .NET 2.0 framework. Once installed, log in and type '@alls help' to see a list of commands (the plugin has no GUI).

It's quite easy to tell if it's finished. Under normal operation, you see the info request for each member of your clan. There's a command to turn off all the chat spam so you can do other things, but you can turn it back on anytime you wish to see if ALLS is still going. Also, you get an "I'm finished" message even with the chat spam turned off.

And if you missed the "has stopped" message, use the 'waitlist' command to see how much work is left. If nothing is waiting to be processed, then the tree has been completed.

if the output is an XML file or an XML-Based file, you can use an XSLT file to "Transform" the XML into something more readble.. only problem is, you have to know XSLT in order to do it well.

(I'm not much up on XSLT, but there are a lot of tutorials online that I'm sure you could use).

Ok, a little later than expected, but here it is. I've uploaded a zip file that contains the files needed to display the tree on a website.

These instructions can also be found in the readme.txt file inside the zip file:

* Unzip everything in this zip file to a (preferably empty) directory.
* Use the allegiance scanner to create an XML file of the monarchy
* Rename the xml file to 'all.xml' and copy it to the /common directory (overwriting the existing 'all.xml')
* Load up the index.html in your browser

cool picture of the dragon, but your allegiance doesn't show up.


One thing that I had thought about doing, was importing all the nodes into meginstats, so it has a complete tree as well.

It does show up, you just have to wait about 3 minutes. Tika's allegiance is pretty big, and that webserver it is on is VERY slow, or something. Once it loads, if you hit 'expand' it takes another few minutes for it to actually show up, and it locks up the browser while it is loading, lol.

ahh.. so it does. happy

and the more I got to thinking about incorporating it into meginstats.. that'd be useless unless there was a way to get the charecter id's for everyone, which I am pretty sure isn't possible. Though Meginjarder does have the ability to do a /guid and it gives your cid and your monarch's cid, even if he isn't on... hmmm....

the webserver itself is not slow (yahoo) - nothing else on the site takes as long to load. It's probably the size of the allegiance slowing things down - wish we could speed it up!

Yes, definately Tika Wika has a lot of folks, and it seems to be graphical rather than text, so that could explain the long load time.

Still, that is a really cool addition to this plug-in, out of all the Allegiance mapping tools I've looked at or used over the years, this is the best of them all, by far.

Im getting an error about 1 hour or so into scanning. It logs me off with an exception error so can't tell you exactly when is happening, this is in allegiancescanner.log at the end, repeated over and over

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at allscanner.allscannre.hooks_statusTextIntercept(String BstrText, Boolean& bEat)

That repeats about a few times then get this:


Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at allscanner.allscannre.hooks_statusTextIntercept(String BstrText, Int32 lColor, Int32, lTarget, Boolean& bEat)

This repeats many times.
