Be warned that these memlocs aren't completely tested, and that most of you won't actually be able to click update...

but you should use DecalUtil.exe and update the XML files. Please report any problems here or on the ACDev boards (or if you know where to find us on IRC, you can try there as well).

I don't know if they will completely work, but hopefully they should... sorry for the delay.. it is Finals week afterall.

If you don't know where to find the DecalUtil.exe program, check the ACDev site at http://www.decaldev.com

If your update button is broken, then use DecalUtil.exe.

Getting lots of errors with AgentZ and Quest Timer after update, not sure if this is specific to those plug ins or not:

LOL Honestly, I'm just happy cause I can stop seeing all the "OMG I can't play without Decal" whining grin

I personally only have one major issue without Decal, and that's my complete inability to do directions or coords, so without my Go Arrow that tells me "RUN THIS WAY STUPID!" I'm sooooooo lost! Lol.

Other than that, eh, with or without it, doesn't make any difference to me really happy But, I do recognize, and completely appreciate all your hard work, and Gouru's and Haz, and all the others who are behind the scenes every month dealing with the whining wink

My problem with the DecalUtil thing is that you have to have the .NET Framework installed... For nothing else Decal related do you need to, so I got around it otherwise... Just sucks to have to download that to use it, especially since you guys said it was the Framework that caused the problem in the first place.

Even so, thanks to you guys for your hard work getting everyone all set and happy every patch and beyond. Means a lot to people, even the ones who complain! grin

Seems to have updated fine. I can get in game with Decal and the Eltank plugin running. I do get several error messages from Eltank it appears. I don't know if this will help you on your end. It could just be eltanks doing.

I can't log the allegiance bot in with either ElTank or Castaway functioning - Tank reports a bunch of errors, as well as reporting the bot does not know most spells. Castaway appears to load correctly, however when the bot goes into casting mode ... the client crashes. AgentZ also reports minor errors.

AC Tool tinkerbot isn't reacting well either with the update. It seems like the bot wants to buff but can't because it says he doesn't know any level spell to cast and he is level 213 with all level 7's learned.

Hopefully this will help in resolving any issues decal may be having. happy


Edit: I don't know how you guys do it, but thanks for doing such a great job in making AC much more enjoyable to play. Good Luck on the finals!

Truthfully, I think Decal, and it's plugins actually KEEP people playing the game. Without them ( and their autors hard work) I'm pretty sure AC wouldn't even exist anymore.

I have one of my mages logged in right now. All ElTank does is cast Critter self 6 over and over and over ... although she IS recharging. It appears the buffing portions of things are temporarily fubared.

<AgentZ> Error #13 occured in 'HandleOptions' of class 'NetEchoHandler' That reported at login

Tank initialized ok ... but I did note that it did not appear that my character logged into any of the chat channels normally accessed. Fiddling with the chat bar options itself enabled allegiance chat to be seen.

Here is an export if it will be of any help. Please note: Castaway, Treestats and MakeIt! are currently disabled. This character logged in is not a bot. Pls advise if you guys want me to do any sort of testing as far as logging in with one or more disabled. I will note here, the bot STILL crashes out on his computer when he attempts to self buff with Castaway, and just stands there looking silly with ElTank.

EDIT: The allegiance identifying feature of ElTank appears to also be borked. Had an allegiance member portal in and he was not "announced" as is usual. I'll continue testing and checking. AgentZ appears to be functioning normally, with the exception of the error shown earlier. Quest Timer shows what has been done on this character accurately, and the other plugins appear to be functioning as they should. Somehow this appears to be tied directly to the allegiance features changed and the buffing routines...

I logged another character on ... lvl 175 mage who can toss 7s off base. At login, AgentZ did not report any errors, however, Tank gave me the following:

ELTANK - line: 0 (6) Overflow @ Packet_Parser - F7B0 - Game Event 13 - enchantments

As on the other character, Tank is not reporting allegiance members nearby. I had a fellow member put a major down a distance from me, THAT portion is working flawlessly. This character started to buff, casting only Adja's Blessing.

FindIt is Kind of working, with 2 issues discovered so far.

1) lists almost every scroll as unknown (probably related to the spell casting/buffing issue of spells unknown reported as being a problem in eltank buffbot)

2) detects all other stuff, or seems to, ok but the pickup/close key doesn't work. IE depress my assigned ',' key to pick up the identified matching loot and then close window and nada happens. click on the pickup button and all goes well.

update on findIt.

after i closed a couple of the non working plugins and rebooted, the ',' pickup matched hotkey is once again working.

most likely something in the startup crash/error conditions of the other plugins caused some 'technical difficulties' that the restart/turn-off eliminated.

when i go to use the decalutil.old.exe i get a error saying The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click ok to terminate the application.

Patch day is always kinda fun without Decal. It's a kick to play the way God meant us to play, before the Garden of Eden that is Decal. But by the end of the evening the novelty has really worn off. I've been involved with AC since 2001 and consider myself a die-hard fan, but I wonder if I would still be playing if we didn't have Decal...No wonder Turbine condones the use of it. It's really a unique relationship, the one beteewn Turbine, the Decal devs, and the AC players who use Decal. You won't find this setup ever again in the MMORPG world.

It is fun once you get past the part of everyone in your guild or in /cg begging for buffs and portals.

I ended up doing 3 quests, all by hand. Not something I'd want to do every day, but fun none the less.

I know several people who would quit playing AC all together if Decal went "belly up" (because of wrist problems and other reasons) but don't know a single person who would "come back" to AC if there was no Decal.

Oh well, random thoughts off.

Thanks for making Decal work and hoping ElTank works soon so I can stop being spammed with "can you buff me?" requests.

I know It's a function of folks not being used to getting 'live' buffs...The courteous thing is to walk up with weapon and shield in hand, and tell the person buffing you WHAT WEAPON TYPE YOU ARE right up front heh. And don't ask for armor buffs on patch day unless it's a good friend, nobody wants to handle someone else's armor. And it's not wise to pass it over to a stranger, anyway.

Fenlop: Umm... a lot of Decal Plugins now, and especially Decal Adapter require .NET 2.0.. so I don't know where you're getting your information from. Sure the CORE of Decal still doesn't require .NET 2.0 to work properly, and if you're running any older plugins they don't require it either, but as more and more plugins are created with the ease that is Decal.Adapter, you'll start seeing a LOT more plugins requiring .NET 2.0 as well.

As for the DecalUtil.old.exe.. if you downloaded it, download the new link instead. I didn't realize when I uploaded the file yesterday that it would change the other filename as well.. I was trying to replace the DecalUtil.exe with a better version last night, and it looks like I replaced it, but the link was moved on me. It's fixed now as well.

As for all the plugin problems right now, my guess is that most of that (if not all of it) is related to protocol changes in the network packets (which is why most of the crashes are in some sort of NetEcho or protocol handler of some sort). We're looking into it, and it will most likely need a re-download of the Messages.xml when it's fixed... but I don't know when it will be. I'm not much of a Protocol guy.. I'm a memlocs guy. Anyway.. some of the other Decal Devs that know packets are looking into it, and will hopefully have something soon.

All I can say is it is DARN inconsiderate of Turbne to release a patch during finals week. Especially when the Softie decal devs are buried in final push for Vista or Office.

They should schedule these things better...don't they know how important Decal is to the average AC player????

Maybe this is a test of the willingness of people to pay attention and read?

Seriously, with many of the folks in my allegiance in college also dealing with finals last week and this week, I appreciate you guys fitting Decal into the middle of this somewhere. With as many higher level folks as are on EACH server, there honestly should not be any reason people can't help each other with buffs and such. And if they are using the ID protocols of LTx and ElTank, those seem to be working fine (as long as you don't want to know if an allegiance member is near grin )

One thing I have noticed, is that SortIt! equips my stuff like LIGHTNING now! And without a single "You can only move or use one item at a time" error. I like it!

Chazcon: is SortIt! the only plugin you have enabled?

If so, it could be the other plugins interfering with the process normally which slows it down.. especially if you have plugins that attempt to do any item tracking, or IDing, etc... *shrug* then again, it's only a guess and not acutally substantiated, but it is a possibility.

Updated fine.

LTX is buffing my mage perfectly, except that it doesn't seem to know when or how to do a S2M / Revit.. but it does see all my spells. On my melee, it won't buff at all, fights like normal, but doesn't know when to Revit either.

With El Tank, it seems to start fine, but as someone said earlier, gets stuck casting critter7 over and over... BUT it does S2M and revit just fine.

My tinkerbot rebuffed normally when I first turned it on, with no problems.. except he already had 40 mins on buffs in the first place - it seemed not to recognize his buff timer on login. I did however test the tinking, which worked fine, and I made sure that when his buffs were about to go he remembered to rebuff - all worked perfectly.

SortIt!, GoArrow, DCS are all working normally as far as I can tell.

I've run it solo before, and with other plugins. It's never been this fast. I love it. Moving items, sorting, equipping - it's a speed demon. Will probably go away when memlocs are fixed heh! Not that it was slow before...it's like, driving a car for 2 years, thinking it's fine, then discovering that you've had two spark plug wires disconnected all this time...

If I was a conscientious user I'd test things and try to find the reason for it. Let's see what happens after we have good memlocs.

jus tto clear up any confusion... chance are, memlocs.xml is fine.. it's the messages.xml that is most likely the problem.

the memlocs.xml is the locations in memory for the AC functions.. this includes all the ACHook functionality and interaction with the game from within decal (outside of information related network stuff)

the messages.xml is the network parsing "map" file which basically tells us which packet is which, and how it should be decoded within decal in order to pass it onto the plugins.

It looks like several things in AgentZ are abit broken.

If you have used AgentZ to change the color of any messages but sent them to the default windows, you need to disable those options or change the color back to default. Those messages seem to be getting eaten. AZ reads the chat options from the login packet. It is possible for it to work normally if you go onto the chat panal in the game and change something, this forces AZ to update the info its missing from the login packet, and then the chat would work normally, however until the login packet is fixed, this would need to be done every time you log in. Its better for now to change your settings in AZ.

The XP Change doesnt well change, however the actual xp total numbers do.

The Enchantments list seems wacky.

Those are the things I noticed. I will wait until the login message is updated to release a new version. Now that school is out, however, I have a few additions to add as well, so perhaps I can work on those in the mean time.

As for your question, we HAVE fixed it.. just not on a version of Decal that is public.

Back to the current problems however.. messages.xml still has not been updated, and most likely, decal won't work properly until it is.. so stop asking.. stop posting about it... stop making new threads about "what's wrong with my decal" and posting exports... what's wrong with it is that messages.xml isn't updated yet.. and until you see one of the Decal Devs say otherwise, that's the way it will remain.

So you can all just stop attmpting to make it work, then come back saying "hey! mine doesn't work!" because we know!

Tested it briefly, still getting the same AgentZ error (Even after I reset all the settings to default as Zeg suggested), and still getting the Quest Timer spamming errors, along with no quests showing. (See my post early on this thread for the exact error messages)

It could be new releases of those plug-ins are needed for full functionality, either way, they are both simply conveniences for me, and certainly no big deal, IMO. I just disabled them both for the time being.

Go Arrow works fine *Grin* which helps Lingie not get lost! grin That's all that matters!

there was an issue with enchantments -- if you logged on while buffed processing of the login packet became messed up.

hopefully that issue has been fixed, and a new messages.xml has been uploaded, so you can try updating again.

Prior to the latest messages.xml I was getting the "you don't know that spell or your skill is to low" error. With the new messages.xml Eltank now starts casting, but repeats the same spell over and over. It's getting better. Thanks for all your hard work.

Yes.

No plugins I use require the Framework yet, and until it comes to a point where I need to download it or forsake a plugin I really need, I'll avoid the Framework like the plague.

I don't understand people's reservations for not wanting to install the .NET Framework.. it is the future of development, and the sooner people start realizing and accepting it, the better off they'll be.

.NET Development is SOOO much easier, and it's an integral part of the new Windows operating systems. There really is no reason NOT to install and use the .NET Framework other than it's size.. which is a 1 time install.

Really.. I'm curious as to why people don't want to install it.

odd flen..you run eltank. if you have xp .net is already there,and is needed to run eltank.
thank you to all the decal devs for all your efforts. i updated with utility..but both el and life tank didnt change anything. muletrader however has been working well since the first memlock update.

Just an FYI.. for me El Tank is still having the buffing issue as of the last update, where it will keep casting a single spell over and over. LTX however, is working perfectly from start to finish.

Awesome, will try that update for ElTank when I get home.

I had LifeTank running well but after about 30 min it just stops all together. Cant figure out why it works perfect for that time then just stops.

Edit : Btw, tried that link above and no go. Dunno if its because I am at work or if the server is down but cant access those forums.

fyi, another updated messages.xml was uploaded to the decal update site today, a couple hours ago.

I don't know if the 'official' messages.xml fix is the same as the one ElgarL has available on his site -- hopefully they're the same, or close enough that it makes no difference which one you use.

personally, I'd prefer that people use the 'official' messages.xml update at this time, but controlling where people go to get updates is like herding cats.

chances are, if you can't get to http://www.decaldev.com then using the updater to attempt to update the files is also going to fail.

and yes.. the server appears to be down right now.

Running into 2 problems.
When I try to update, I get a

'Could not obtain updatelist.xml. Cannot update - Hosting server down?

I did download the DecalUtil.exe. When I run it, I get
'The application failed to initialize properly (0cx0000135). Click on OK
to terminate the operation'.

As a comment on using Decal, I would seriously consider leaving AC if I could
not get Decal to work. I have been playing AC for about 5 years - and it is still
fun. But a definite drag without Decal.

1) Don't use the Update button in DenAgent.. at least until the next full release of Decal is made public.

2) If you get "Failed to Initialize" errors, then you need to either install the .NET 2.0 Framework, or make sure that you're saving the DecalUtil.exe to your hard drive somewhere and running it from there.. don't attempt to run it from the website (any website).

I took care of most of the issues with #2 in that the link on the site now downloads a ZIP file which forces you to actually extract it and run it from the computer.. but some people still might be using other links.

i must be cursed ;p i tried the last 2 decal memlocks and even the elgar patch in between and i keep getting the same thing.

Hello, im having trouble with having life tank work. Its not detecting any of my buffs and basically wont let me click on buttons in life tank. It does nothing when I click on buttons etc. I have updated w/ the util. I have uninstalled all and reinstalled all still no work. Any ideas?

Still having problems with Decal, hope you can help.
When I start up Decal, it gives me the usual
.....Den Agent
..... “The client version does not match the XML version….
..... Would you like to update now?
When I say yes, it says
..... Updating Decal components (as usual)
Then
.....DenAgen
..... Download failed
..... Invalid syntax
Then when I hit Ok, it says
..... Could not obtain updatelist.xml. Cannot update – Hosting server down?
..... Decal compont update failed!
This is all as reported by others.
I downloaded the executed the DecalUtil as you had suggested from the Decal Site.
When I executed, it says

At this point I don’t know how to proceed. Please advise.

Alrighty then, Saturday morning, I'm hoping the smoke has cleared a bit.

So what's the current status, we have good memlocs and messages.xml files, and all plugins are operational?

I hear and see things regarding El Tank - several buffbots in-game are using it, so that plugin is good to go as well?

I've downloaded several iterations of the M&M's but haven't yet fired up El Tank.

My SortIt! has reverted back to it's normal speed, I wonder what in the heck was making it scream with the first memlocs/messages. Not that I would consider it 'slow' by any means now - just curious.

if you logged on with buffs, the login message wasn't being parsed correctly. your inventory information comes after your buffs, so I imagine in that case SortIt! would think you had nothing in your inventory, or its notion of your inventory would have been all garbled.

sorting nothing would have been blindingly fast, but I'm guessing it didn't actually do anything to your inventory.

VBSLY sounds like you need to install netframeworks 2.0. You can get link to it same place got updateutil on the decal download site. Unless things have changed, you need to uninstall decal via control panel add/remove programs then install the netframeworks2.0 then reinstall decal. Once all that done run the updateutil again, leave update button alone on decal and all should be good hopefully.

So.... I downloaded Elgar's Memlocks thingy from his link previously. And i downloaded the newest version of decal, eltank, and what not.. I still get the error when i click el tank or life tank x in game it bombs me out saying something like;
Acclient we are very sorry for the inconveniece, if you were doing something that might be lost. < not exact..

but yah.

Oracle, yours is due to video memory (lack of).

Xen, no idea on yours, other than disabling AA on your video card (if you can).
