I have been working on an AC Soundscape macro (in AC Tool - I am not proficient enough at C# to write a plugin yet).

As your character travels around Dereth it plays different looped background music like a lot of other games have these days. When you go into combat mode it plays 'battle music'...if it detects monsters within 1.5 of radar range it plays 'warning music' or 'danger music' - as you approach towns it will detect which town it is and play music based on the race of the town (Aluvian/Sho/Gharu/Viamont). When you go into the tavern, lively music, etc etc you get the idea.

Different music will be played in different parts of Dereth, by detecting location - like some serious stuff in Caul , VoD, Vissidal, etc. more mellow music around starter towns.

If you played AC2 you'll know of what I speak.

What do you think?

You can be my guinea p...erm....tester.

I actually would like to use AC2's sound files, or at least some of them, but they are included in proprietary cabinet files on the AC2 disk. Hmm perhaps if I reinstalled it I could get to them...

It's a good idea but it sounds difficult to do well. Using AC2's sounds will give you a good starting point though.

A really good idea. This type of music was one of the things I loved most about WoW. The different soundtracks for various towns were awesome.

Very Interesting.

I don't use the default AC music/sounds, I have my own list of MP3 songs I like to listen to, and I think this would be a trip.

Coming along.

Initial version will have just a few sounds, once it's up and running I can expand a bit.

The sounds/music I'm playing with will not be modern music references, but more along the lines of classical stuff.

Here's what 1.0 has now, a seperate sound loop for each of these locations/states/events:

1) Not in or near a town,, no monsters close by (default state)

2) Within 1.5 radar range of a town - plays one of four racial-oriented themes (Aluvian - Northern European, Sho - Asian, Gharu - undecided, Middle Eastern/African probably, Viamont - Italian classical, still working these out)

3) Monsters within detection range (rabbits and chickens filtered out lol) - 'danger' or 'warning' type music

4) In combat with monsters - fast tempo 'fighting' music (I will expand this to a different type music depending on whether you're in melee/missile/mage combat mode)

Later I want add different music for being in the Dires, on Caul, in VoD, etc. Perhaps Olthoi North too.

Anyway, if you have music ideas and it's not Ted Nugent or Metallica go ahead and post them.

I like this album from Javid happy (Saw them in concert at the Del Mar fair and bought the CD on spot happy )

click

Edit - If you knew how to program in C++ or whatnot it would be even better, you could pause the current song, play the attack music or whatnot, and when done, unpause the one before, or even make it blend together o.0

What happens when several situations are given at once , like be near a town with monsters on radar and i pull out wand to imp and then go to melee mode ?
Will there be a filter or a priority or something ?

Yes a priority, the more serious the situation the higher the priority:

1) Combat mode, monsters near (combat music)
2) Peace mode, monsters near (danger music)
3) Peace mode, no monsters, near a town (racial town music)
4) Peace mode, no monsters, no town (default music)

This would be really easy to write in C#. I mean, really simple. Decal.Adapter is not particularly more difficult than ACTool, and a hell of a lot more powerful.

You should consider learning how to write real plugins, Chaz. Then not only would you probably stop being an asshole, you could become a productive member of this community.

that said, it is a good idea.
