Already posted on home boards, but looking for an answer for this question.

Wish they had a utility for this! happy

Could incoporate decal/profiles/etc.. into it and then just update each month with new stuff! happy

it mainly depends on if the installer is set up to even HAVE a silent mode.

If the installer doesn't have a silent mode, then there isn't much you cna do short of writing a "launcher" for the installer that will start the installer in a "nogui" mode and set all the options as specified.

I'm not sure whether this installer can be made silent or not. maybe I'll take a look at it from work today and see what I can dig up. Sounds like an interesting idea at the least and it could become useful.

We'll see how my time looks today.

Drakier if you did this, I would seriously drop this tiff I have with you. Your being much bigger than I am atm. Very kind words you used and did'nt just trash what an idea this could be. Thank you. I just bumped my level of respect for you up a notch.

Im not being sarcastic, seriously TY.

EDIT:
Is there anything I can do? I can't remember how to access that information in the installer. I have the full acgraphicsupdate.exe file on my harddrive.

which installer specifically are you referring to? the one on the AC:ToD CD, or the one on the Turbine site?

The one contained on the turbine website here:

http://ac.turbine.com/index.php?page_id=381

Which direct link:

http://download.turbine.com/ac1/ac_graphicsupdate.exe

If you happen to make a utility for this Draiker, I got a BUNCH of features you can add.

(Link to download graphics update which is actually the full game too.;) )

Intregating this into your dual client program would be fantastic!

I was thinking if I made a launcher for the game installer, it would only be a command-line application that took some parameters for the paths and stuff and just silently installed it all. I wasn't thinking about adding any other features, or integrating it into any other applications.

What did you have in mind?

Just a possible upgrade to Dual Client in which you can select a silent install AC + Updates and also setup dual client at same time. This would be an advanced feature of course and would require enabling and a disclaimer I am sure.

Updates= Files you saved from the most recent patch, currently JAN...
(I could host these on my webhosting server...if needbe.)

Now a command line for Decal would be great outside of Dual Client program...

Have a tutorial written to explain the placement of files etc....
And then how to write a CMD line into a CMD file...
Then explain how to Xcopy or copy over the profiles to certain directorys once the install is done.

Get it?

I'm really confused now on what you're trying to do.

Don't you just want to install AC to a pre-specified location without a GUI or having to click buttons?

Yes. Then move a updated version of the .dat files and misc files to the directorys specified.

THEN... Another side from that project... create a decal installer for decal and plugins....

Make them all run from a program or interface so I AND OTHERS can add it to a unattended windows cd. wink

Saves probably almost an hour possibly or two installing, updating, configuring, saving, etc....

so it sounds like you need something that can be XML driven through some sort of config file...

possibly even be able to go and download the appropriate files as specified in the new "launcher" installer.

that makes it a bit more complex, but still do-able.

Getting the hidden installer to complete successfully is a task in and of itself.

Once I'm able to get the default installer itself to run properly, then I'll look at possibly adding more configurations to it that can be used to expand on the installer.... such as downloading of updated files, etc.

I say work on the installer, then work on a updater as a separate program!
